The game would have been a definite buy, had the developers gave more weightage to combat and fight sequences, than exploration and survival arrangements.

''had the developers gave more weightage to combat and fight sequences''

''if the game was set in a more futuristic setting, with a fast-paced storyline.''

This is the result of people thinking games like Dead Space and The Evil Within are survival horror.

The criticisms in this review are utterly bizarre

Septic1076d ago

Yeah wtf? Some people clearly are missing the point with this game.

Gwiz1076d ago

This is what i meant with my mystic description of why this game is the actual epiphany of the current maelstrom of generic games.

It's funny to see i'm emphasizing Alien Isolation to be a breath of fresh air in the industry but probably not understood well enough what i wrote.
probably would've been better with - of + opposed to

Hysteria941076d ago

Yep this review is terrible ...

This reviewer went in expecting Fantasia and got Phantasm. Not all games are - or should be - happy power fantasies.

"The game would have been a definite buy, had the developers gave more weightage to combat and fight sequences, than exploration and survival arrangements."

I think I've read all I need to here.

The author of this article clearly has the barest inkling of the direction CA were taking when they started work on Isolation. People like this are why journalism in video games is considered such a joke, and why it IS such a joke.

"It is fun to play in parts, though it lacks the pace and it is not going to scare you as much as its predecessors did."

The only thing scary about any of Alien Isolation's video game predecessors (disregarding the excellent AvP1 and 2, not the 2010 game) was how awful they all were.

This guy obviously didnt do his research on this game buddy you just got Egg on your face by this article.
If you played this game like i have you realise this is far from a typical gun action based game like the others said ^^ wtf you want that style game play dead space.

Best game I have played in a while, most other games have the 'have I played this before?' feeling.

''if the game was set in a more futuristic setting, with a fast-paced storyline.''

Do you even know what you are playing or have even watched the original Alien movie? This reviewer clearly has no idea what they are talking about. The story is paced like the first film, slow and steady because it builds the tension. The "non futuristic look" is based on the first film because 1) that's all they had to work with back then with a little computer effect, they couldn't have possibly predicted a little over 30 years later we would have the technology we do today.

''had the developers gave more weightage to combat and fight sequences''

Again, proof this guy has no idea what he is talking about. If they went with weapons and fight sequences it would be a shooter or an action thriller. They wanted to make a game that Alien fans have wanted since forever and that is a SURVIVAL HORROR game. Games like Amnesia or even PT had TERRIFYING reactions, why? Because you have NO weapon, you DON'T know where anything is coming from and building fear from something that's not there is real fear. RE4,5,6 weren't scary because you had guys. Sure a zombie would pop out and make you jump but then you would shoot it and it would be dead, no fear, no tension, only the safety of your weapon.

This review just sounds like someone is sour because Alien finally has a game that lives up it the films Legacy.

It's nearly like they're saying "this game would have been better if it was colonial marines" .. Haha.

Also - "Yes, as the game advances you do collect some measly tools, and a revolver, that would convince your gut of your incapability to fight a deadly alien." Seems like they didn't get very far into the campaign at all..

So it can basically be summed up as "this game is hard and I don't have the patience and/or inclination to learn to play it properly" - which has been exactly the case in all the low scoring reviews I've seen of A:I.

Not for everyone.
