The Wii U will celebrate the second anniversary of its Japanese launch on December 8th, and the best way to do that on a high note is definitely a sales milestone.

Congratulations! The most high-quality exclusives by far, more than XBox and PS4 put together. It has the worst multiplats, but that's not the question or the answer.

donthate1353d ago (Edited 1353d ago )

The glory of Japan has really fallen in the console world.

When a huge milestone is 2 million and being the 3rd largest gaming country in the world makes it seem like only UK and US matters anymore. The US alone sells 3-4 million consoles in November easily across console platforms.

The rest of the world is either on smartphone/tablet or PC?

freshslicepizza1353d ago

the ps2 sold over 20 million in japan, my how times have changed

lonelyplayer1353d ago

US is like 26x larger than japan in land size.

TimeSkipLuffy1353d ago

the console was released in 2012... they had one year head start...

Fro_xoxo1353d ago (Edited 1353d ago )

"head start"

It's not a race.

Nintendo clearly does their own thing.

AJBACK2FRAG1353d ago

Wtf???? Cling to that troll.

AKR1352d ago

I keep seeing people bring that up. The 360 had a one year head start too. What's the catch?

fermcr1353d ago (Edited 1353d ago )

"Congratulations! The most high-quality exclusives by far, more than XBox and PS4 put together."

It's all a question of opinion. For me, Nintendo doesn't have the best exclusives. Out of all the exclusives released on the WiiU, there are only 2-3 I would really like to play.
Well, that's my opinion...

... but nevertheless congrats Nintendo for the 2 million units sold in Japan.

EDIT: All those Mario's, Smash, Karts, etc, simply don't appeal to me. A exclusive game that I would like to play is Bayonetta 2.

Svinya1353d ago

I agree. I only want 2. The newest Mario Land and Smash. Nothing else.

kreate1353d ago

I got 2 as well.
Mario kart and bayonetta.

BullyMangler1352d ago (Edited 1352d ago )

He said "The most high-quality exclusives by far, more than XBox and PS4 put together." . . and its true, according to reviews round the globe, wiiU is kicking ps4 and XB1 booty.

. .nothing to do with opinion, or which games cater most to you . . thats a diff story

clouds51352d ago

Donkey kong country returns (wii) and tropical freeze (wiiu) would sell the system for me :)

Why involve PS4/X1 here?

Takwin1352d ago

This is a gaming site populated by passionate gaming nerds. Wouldn't it be weird to see an article that didn't mention the competition to put things in perspective?

I mean, I'm no shareholder and I don't consider myself a fanboy, but discussing (or arguing, gently) about your console(s) of choice is the reason people come to the comment section of gaming sites. That, or to witness the downfall of humanity, one troll at a time.

tlougotg1352d ago

Ill pass on regurgitated smash, mario, Donkey Kong and ill keep my Infamous SS, TLOUR, Driveclub, Resogun, MLB The Show and whats to come.

lol You act like Wiiu hasnt been on the market an extra year hahahaha and even with that their game turnout is horrendous which is why i dont own it and wont own it because its overprioced, archaic and behind the times.!

Mario Kart 8, Super Smash, Captain Toad, NSMBU, Super Mario 3D World.

I've had fun with all of them...well except CT..that isn't out until friday, but looks like a lot of fun.

It's crazy because 2 million sounds like peanuts but in Japan it's actually pretty significant.

randomass1711353d ago

Particularly for consoles. I'd be more concerned if this number was for 3DS or Vita.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory1352d ago

3DS is over 16m and Vita is probably 3m

Blyght1353d ago

I wonder how high it will go with Smash out this holiday season. 2.5 million, maybe?

BigDuo1353d ago (Edited 1353d ago )

I suspect it will be less than that. The home console market is in bad shape in Japan despite Wii U's general lack of significant competition. Last year, Wii U sales with the release of Super Mario 3D World were low. However, the reality is, none of the 3D Mario Game have ever been strong system sellers for home consoles in Japan during their first week of release.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory1352d ago

Possible SM3DW push Wii U over 100k for a week in Dec. last year

HotMess1353d ago

Yeah well it finally has good games so I'm not surprised.

GokuSolosAll1353d ago

@Takwin: LOL, Wii U better have a nicer library of games in certain asppects, it's twice as old as PS4/XB1.

Chrischi19881352d ago

Well, it doesnt matter. It matters what you are competing with and what they offer during the same time period.

Spotie1352d ago

Of course it matters. That's stupid. Why would you NOT take time on the market into consideration?

Don't be a fanboy.

Chrischi19881352d ago (Edited 1352d ago )

It still doesnt. Fanboys are the ones who always mention the time. It matters, what the consoles offer during the same time period. If a console offers more, it offers more. If I want to buy a console today, I will look at the new ones and look what offers the most I like, I dont care if one is a year older then, I care what it offers now.
