Ever since I spent over 50 hours in 2006’s Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, which – as you can probably tell – was the last Pokémon game I was fully invested in, I was never compelled in sinking my teeth into another Poké-journey because every iteration is, essentially, more of the same. Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire don’t change the Poké-formula by any means as they are very much “HD remasters” of the best-selling GBA games of all-time with a few modern tweaks, but the addicting RPG gameplay that has been critically acclaimed for 19 years now still holds up in this latest iteration, and, even though its somewhat problematic, it is still so addicting."
