MWEB GameZone investigated the recent outage of Xbox Live and the claim by Lizard Squad that is was a DDOS attack. As far as MWEB GameZone can determine, the claims are false and the outage is a minor one
So they making false claims? How do we know if the new Twitter account is in fact them? Confused :S
People just love attention. And this is just some snot-nosed kids looking to get some attention
Yah, sad really :(
hah - image attached
Hahaha seems legit :)
So you are telling me Live had another glitch last night and went down for a reason that was resolved last month. I don't know if it was a hack or just another xbox blunder but there was something last night.
The friends list was down for about 30 mins... Total blunder
I kid you not folks I actually couldn't connect to live this morning. Not salty. Not trying to put down Xbox in any way. All I'm saying is that I couldn't connect either.
I couldn't connect to either of the 360's in my household last night, then when one connected, the other wouldn't download a dashboard update (it hadn't been used in a while). Today everything worked on both. Also was watching someone play Xbox One on Twitch last night and none of their digital games would connect so they stopped streaming for the night.
Apparently: - We've contact a source at Xbox about the outage and according to them it was not an attack. "Seems like some hackers took credit for a Live outage tonight. Doesn't seem legit.. It was a minor outage just affecting US and Canada, and some only had problems with friend list according to the reports I've seen."
Well said dubaman bubs
Explained in the article no?
Imma make a fake twitter account and call it Mammal Squad and whenever a service gets DDoS imma say it was me
I hope you get locked up for it. #DontDropSoap
Should be called Pussy Squad....punks.
I'm going to overload my server, so its down after you bought my game or use my service, because I cant afford to give you this service in the first place. Now I get free recession time and will not be blames for pulling the plug.sorry contractors, .I'm Blame it on someone els. We will call them hackers. Now I get get Free money. and gain statistics of how many hits this game or service got.. ddos is not an attack. why would u give someone a lot of you tube plays for no reason? After all its called a denial of service attack. use Google now, A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. I would love My own site or blogg to get ddos. lol.
isnt microsoft saying it was not a DDoS attack though? your argument is invalid.
ROFL, he obviously didn't read it
Ummm.... What? DDOS attacks cost companies money, not help them.. XBL or PSN for that matter don't generate revenue like websites so your click through rate or hit count theories here are pretty far off the map. Do your homework before you start talking above your level of understanding.
Yeah but you know, when Xbox Live have its hiccup moments, fanboys used that normal thing that happens to make it seem like a DDOS attack happened when it really didn't.
See I don't approve of what lizard squad is doing, but that also should be a lesson to those of you who thought xbox live is untouchable. If hackers want something done and they have the tools to do it no one will stop them
I'm sorry but who said live is "untouchable" or invincible? A couple flame baiting fanboys?? No one with any validity said such a thing and for you to use that as an example is just silly. Xbox Live has a great history for its reliability, security and stability but by no means untouchable...Simple as that mate. Considering how hot the 'DDOS' on Live news got yesterday along with all the opposing fanboys frothing at the mouth, its just sad. Anything to bash MS really
I'm not bashing Microsoft, look at sony they got hacked I'm not making excuses for them. It happens. I'm not some fanboy clown like most kids on this site. And yes you are correct Microsoft typically does have a very reliable stable service. I was simply getting the point across that if a hacker wants something they will most likely get it -edit- also look at what I actually typed, I said "for those of you who thought" so don't go around taking things out of context and making it silly
I didn't say you were bashing MS dude, read what I said again. "Considering how hot the 'DDOS' on Live news got yesterday along with all the opposing fanboys frothing at the mouth, its just sad. Anything to bash MS really" Implying the article was there to serve a purpose while attracting frothing fanboys who bash on MS at any chance they get. Which evidently is true, most articles on this site shine MS and/or xbox in a bad light. Not whining, just pointing out the obvious. People who say this site shows fairness and no bias to either console is lunacy. It's as clear as day that 95% of articles lean towards Sony and it has been this way for many years.
The only problem I had was the leader boards weren't working. I had no problems joining games or anything else. Odd.
My friends list and shared leaderboards were on and off but matchmaking was fine in BF4 for me... Definitely wasn't down as a whole service but there were issues for most as I listed above.
So the "source" at Microsoft says "Seems like some hackers took credit for a Live outage tonight. Doesn't seem legit.. It was a minor outage just affecting US and Canada, and some only had problems with friend list according to the reports I've seen." I'm in the UK and mine was affected, same as everyone else I know from the UK. Very reliable "source", even a search on Twitter could confirm there were loads in the UK affected, probably other countries too :)
