Jim Piddock not voicing Zero in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain?

Jim Piddock, the voice actor for Major Zero in Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, called the possibility he will reprise his role in The Phantom Pain 'unlikely'. The reason apparently is that Konami's offer wasn't satisfactory.

Yeah, especially if the reason is money. If it's an artistic choice, okay.

MGSV is 20 years after MGS3 so they probably went with a old actor IF he's in the game. I think Zero would be in his 70s.

That's true but this seems to suggest they did in fact contact him for the role, and the issue wasn't the fact that the character has grown older but the money Konami is willing to spend.
