Former The Last Of Us art director Nate Wells has taken a job with Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics
Nathan is one talented guy,i wish him all the best at CD.
I think they are hoping some of that The Last of Us magic will rub off on Rise of the Tomb Raider. But I doubt the claim that it will be an 'Uncharted killer'!
Who said it's Uncharted killer though ?!
Isnt it a little late for him to make any impact on the game?
Hmmm at the disagrees... Is he not talented? Didn't like what he did with Last of Us? Or you don't wish him the best? Hope he fails and sucks? Why so salty?
I don't get it either.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed Xbox exclusive. He is helping make a Tomb Raider which was bettered by Uncharted which was directly influenced by it. Therefore Nate Wells is illuminati confirmed. Or people disagree with anything Xbox affiliated. Maybe both.
I wish him all the best but i dislike CD and people might have disagreed for this reason?
All I can say is I'm excited for rise of tomb raider...TLOU is probably the best game I ever played and the story and acting was phenomenal.......and this can do nothing but make the next tomb raider game better
That's life... that's what people say...
For now, until he leaves again. This guy is all over the place, he wasn't at ND very long, then went to Giant Sparrow and left that after only a few months. At first I confused this guy with Evan Wells. Lol Anyway I hope he comes out and does more speaking like he did at E3 for U2.
He went to Irrational to work on Infinite as well.
Oh, I see even the related tags are timed exclusives now! xD The Last of Us had great scenery and art work so hopefully this guy will be put to good use at Crystal Dynamics. I really enjoyed the Tomb Raider reboot so I'm looking forward to eventually getting to play Rise of the Tomb Raider once Xbox is done hogging it.
While I'm sure he's very talented and contributed lots, he was hired by ND and came onto TLOU team very late in the game, after the art style was more or less set in stone.
If it was set in stone, why would they need to hire an art director?
Not sure where the disagrees you got came from, the article itself stated that he came on late in development for TLOU in 2012....or do people think that the games environments are something that can be created from scratch & seen through to completion in the span of less than a year? I'd say the dude did more work for the Left Behind dlc than anything else. These articles should be making it clear that the Enslaved artist was the one responsible for the lions share of the work done on TLOU, I never saw Nate Wells name on any of the art really.
Crystal Dynamics need some ND talent for Tomb Raider. Just kidding. Wish him luck.
Cool , good for him . Keep building that resume.
