The Best Video Games of 2014 Are Exactly the Same as Last Year

It's hard to disagree, though, with Metacritic's scores-aggregated "revelation" that the best two games of the year have been ones initially released in 2013. Last year, the PS3-exclusive The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V, for 360 and PS3, pretty much swept the awards board, gobbling up acclaim like Pac-Man does power pills, chasing all other contenders away from their respective turfs.

Sadly this is true.... kind of a bad year for games due to all the delays. I mean even the best games aren't big standouts really....

Is this a PS website? MK8 and Bayonetta 2 are the best games I've played this year. MCC is great but buggy and I didn't enjoy TLOU as much the second time through. I think Nintendo nailed it this year, but everyone just ignores them.

To each is own but to say the best games this year were TLOU and GTA V is beyond ridiculous. I am sure that there were better games than those two that have a fighting chance to win awards like Divinity Original Sin, Wasteland 2, Alien Isolation, Among the Sleep, etc.

While kinda true. Gta 5 and last of us remastered are awesome even Diablo 3 ultimate is great. There some great games this year. The new dragon age is great. I also had a lot of fun with shadow of mordor. Even with its shortcomings, with friends destiny is a good time. With the Witcher 3, evolve, Bloodborne, and the order all releasing in February or March things are starting out strong next year.
