Jazzpunk and the Failure of Comedy in Games

Jazzpunk approaches comedy differently than most and understands its place, for that it succeeds tremendously.

"Video games can be funny. Anything can be funny depending on the person. Though we shouldn’t ignore the whole point of what makes gaming what it is. Interaction. The power of interaction greatly builds our emotional responses and ties our investment to the code. So, in effect, comedy in video games would exert the most gut-busting chuckles in any medium. Our play is our experience, our personal connection unique to us only, which makes the mutual bonds over specific played games (or games in general) so affecting to another, compared to sitting and starring at things. Memes, meta humor all about games we get and understand. Though, the intended comedy often doesn’t work in video games. We approach it at the wrong angles entirely."
