Not really sure what these "season" focused articles serve to prove.

What happens after the holidays are over? Where is your lineup in the first 6 months of the year, and then the 6 months after that? Do some people really only value the holiday season for their consoles? I mean I know that's when a lot of people will be buying them, but you have to look at the bigger picture.

PS4 has less exclusive games than the Xbone in the space of 2-3 months, but across the 12 months that we should be considering, it has more games, and better rated ones - something that is easy to deny when using tunnel vision, but not when you are thinking of the long-term and it's nice to see the author addresses this:

"However it is also important to note that in the long-term, which is considering 2015 the PS4 it in fact ahead of the Xbox One."

So after all of this, of course you should go for whatever you prefer - but people should keep the facts in mind, and don't skew reality of what games a console really has to play just because you'd prefer to focus on one small part of the year to win e-peen points.

@ EvilWay

No I'm not wrong. I use facts and logic and you are caught using nothing but misconception. Look up the top rated games on both platforms. PS4 currently has more higher rated games and more of them. It has 2 AAA-rated exclusives and Xbone has NONE.
----------

@ lifeisgamesok

Just like you are presuming I have no idea about what Microsoft has for the first 6 months of 2015, neither do you, unless you are a Microsoft employee, which may actually be fairly feasible - but nope… you're just a hardcore Xbox fan, and you're hopeful.

Forza 6 will be announced for holidays and everything else is holidays. The first 6-8 months for you is practically barren of AAA exclusives and all you seem to have is indie games and inferior multiplatform games - that is something I've seen you knock PS4 for, so please just be honest and accept reality.

Sony also has unannounced PS4 games for next year too that will be announced in a few days. People say that company announces their games too early and they get delayed into the new year. Well… in the past 12 months, Sony has announced Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank Redux and LittleBigPlanet 3, and they are all seeing releases within 12 months of their announcements. So that is what you're going to be seeing from now on.

So best place to play in 2015? NOPE!
Unless Microsoft announces at least 10 Xbone games ranging from AA-AAA, 2015 is far from "up for grabs". PS4 has it in the bag, and most sensible people will admit that at this stage.

EvilWay1147d ago

I don't know how it could have "higher rated" exclusives when they aren't out yet. If you were talking about the past 12 months you are wrong

lifeisgamesok1147d ago (Edited 1147d ago )

Microsoft has unannounced games for 2015 and have announced games before very shortly before release like Forza Horizon 2 so you don't know what they have for the 1st 6 months

They already have a great lineup so far though and they said they have more

2015 is up for grabs

@DigitalRaptor

You must be living under a Rock or just plain ignorant when it comes to Xbox One here is what you can expect for the first 6 months on X1

Ori and the blind Forest
ScreamRide
D4
State of Decay
Smite
Dungeons and Dragon Never winter
Fable Legends

Plus we know 2015 will have Quantum Break, TombRaider, Halo Guardians, Possibly Forza 6, Cuphead, Super Hot, Infinity Blade, Below, Crackdown, Scalebound, Phantum Dust. Add the excellent 3rd parties games like Witcher 3, Battlefield Hardline, Batman, Deadlight, Evolve, Metal Gear. Xbox is heading in a great direction. Having a solid lineup of games in 2015 counts more than just the first Quarter. Stop being a fanboy.

Blackleg-sanji1147d ago (Edited 1147d ago )

Why do ppl keep listing forza 6 is that confirmed somewhere and if so y would anybody want that so freaking quicky u got 2 forzas this yr and i believe crackdown amd phantom dust are 2016 not sure tho

Edit: also so nice of xbox fans to start pointing out the smaller "indie" exclusives now -_-

guyman1147d ago

Scalebound and crackdown won't release next year.

Omran1147d ago

so you are listing some indie games and xbox fans say that PS4 only have indies in 2014 lol !

facepalm

Manic20141147d ago

@Guyman

It is possible though, for SSOD we were shown a CGI trailer during E3, then it eventually released this year, 15 months after the announcement. I think we can hopefully expect something similar with Crackdown and Scalebound. Also cloudgine have been working on crackdown for some time now.

Lawboy21146d ago (Edited 1146d ago )

I think some ppl should learn what an independent (indie) game is....no game on that list is independently published except smite (and maybe that dungeons and dragons)....so not indie

DigitalRaptor1146d ago (Edited 1146d ago )

@ MichaelLito79

I've already replied to your friends above peddling the same kind of nonsense, but I think you deserve a separate response. Nope, I haven't been living under a rock. I know what's coming to Xbone in 2015, but I see people being dishonest about comparative lineups and it irks me enough to write a comment about it. You know exactly what I'm referring to when I'm comparing lineups.

(1) You're using multiplatform games and indie games as a 1UP when PS4 has absolutely tons more of the same great looking indie games, and will have superior versions of the multiplatform games. So best place to play goes to PS4 by default.

(2) You list games that you personally think are coming in 2015, but common sense and easily accessible information dictates otherwise.

- Ori and the Blind Forest, ScreamRide, State of Decay, Smite, D&D can be matched on PS4 easily in 2015 and THEN SOME.

- D4 was actually released this year and Swery has said that he is not actively pursuing any future episodes, because that is dependent on the success of the first season, but that's not looking good due to terrible sales.

- Fable games have always been released in the holiday season ever since the first game. If this comes out before June, that would be a strange anomaly, and it still doesn't have a firm release date, which you would expect by now.

-----------

"Plus we know 2015 will have Quantum Break, TombRaider, Halo Guardians, "

Q3/Q4 2015.

-----------

"Possibly Forza 6, Cuphead, Super Hot, Infinity Blade, Below, Crackdown, Scalebound, Phantum Dust."

- Forza 6 is a given, but it will definitely be Q3 or Q4.
- Cuphead (indie, no release date).
- Super Hot (indie, June 2015).
- Infinity Blade (indie, no release date).
- Below (indie, no release date).
- Crackdown (you honestly believe this is 2015?)
- Scalebound (you honestly believe this is 2015?)
- Phantom Dust (you honestly believe this is 2015?)

---------

"Add the excellent 3rd parties games like Witcher 3, Battlefield Hardline, Batman, Deadlight, Evolve, Metal Gear. Xbox is heading in a great direction."

Again… multiplats that will more than likely look and perform better on PS4. Again, my whole comment was a comparison between the 2 platforms because that is the foundation of what this article is highlighting. I thought you would've realised that.

zeuanimals1146d ago (Edited 1146d ago )

@Lawboy:

There's plenty of games on the PS4 that people brushed off because they were "indie" even though they're published by Sony... And nobody counts them, not even Sony fanboys. I literally have seen nobody count Pixel Junk, Hohokum, etc. in their list wars even though they're published by Sony while tons of people are counting Ori, Cuphead, etc. in their lists for 2015.

So do those XBO games not count and therefore neither do those PS4 games, or do they count and so do the PS4 games, or are you just a hypocrite?

Also, the PS4 has even more first party published "indies" next year, far more than what we know of on the XBO. Do any of those count?

Its marketing and fanboys stuff. The internet also pushes it to get clicks. We all know you buy a console for the long term

marlinfan101146d ago

Ps4 may have more games but 85% of them are indies that the average user wont even play. Ive got both systems and dont even play my ps4 anymore because there just arent any games that interest me right now. I know ill get tons of disagrees for voicing my opinion, but whatever.

DigitalRaptor1146d ago (Edited 1146d ago )

Dude. The average Xbox 360 user didn't even play a single Halo game. What's the highest selling Halo game on the 360? Now compare that to the entire install base. There you go.

And what difference does that make? The Persona series is quality, and Persona 5 will probably be a quality game, but the average user probably won't even play that either. Same can be said for Shenmue, Ico or Viewtiful Joe - all legacy games that the average user didn't play. It makes no damn difference. It adds to the overall diversity of a lineup and provides something to a fairly large group of gamers will enjoy and appreciate. And besides… a small indie game can provide absolute joy to a bunch of gamers - just look at Journey.

I disagreed because of how flawed your reasoning about why it's worse to have more games is, not just because it's your opinion.

gangsta_red1145d ago

@Digital

I love your non-stop parading of "PS4 had more games". The funny thing is it's not by much.

Another thing is...does the PS4 have more games that people ACTUALLY want to play?

Think about that for a moment...

Just because a system has more doesn't make it appealing if over half of those games are old indie ports from the PC.

"Sony also has unannounced PS4 games for next year too that will be announced in a few days."

Yea and so does MS, so what's your point?

I love your use of "tunnel vision" and "sensible people". It's hilarious, you have nothing but tunnel vision when it comes to everything Sony related and a sensible person you are not.

Where ever your friends are... or what games you would like, in the short and long run, it all boils down to preference at the end of the day..
