Esteemed homebrew developer Dark_AleX has released PSP custom firmware 4.01 M33.
*dies* *resurrected* *updates psp*
Hahahahaha, that made me chuckle.
and dandy, but the servers are f*cking down!!! even the irc server is down...i hope someone releases it on qj ot something
Well you can download the firmware manually at the above link. D_A's server will be fixed soon though.
how some random guy can do this much. Does he have like a team or something behind him on the psp messing with it? Sony needs to hire this guy he seems to be doing more by himself then Sony is doing with the psp.
He works with a team and at one point in the past he was in communication with Sony. Sony says many of the hackers began communication with them rather than the other way around though.
jus updated it XD
That was quick!! Hey just wondering. Will 1.50 kernal ever be released for the Slim?
No, but you can use the Time Machine to run a firmware 1.5 + 3.40 hybrid on a Slim. Anyway most homebrew is written for the 3.X kernel and up these days so the lack of 1.5 support is not so bad.
Because I love having my old nes games on the road.
"most homebrew is written for the 3.X kernel and up these days" there are emulators specifically for the slim i.e. nesticle, snes9xtyl, ect. they dont need the 1.5 kernel edit: from the comments on the link icedman204 says: I've tested a few 3.xx kernel homebrews and they seem to work so far :) June 28, 2008, 3:47 pm
Dark Alex. I salute you :)
can this be replaced over sony`s recent 4.01 update?cuz mine ain`t working
The updating method provided in the link only works for previous M33 Custom Firmwares. Official Sony firmwares must be cracked and downgraded before upgrading to your own custom firmware. Unfortunately for you, you'll have to wait until someone figures out how to downgrade from official firmware 4.01 or higher. I don't know what the newest downgrader goes up to, but my advice is that if you want custom firmware, DO NOT upgrade to any newer Sony firmware updates. Eventually someone will release the appropriate downgrader for you. Sony releases new security measures in each update making every new firmware harder to downgrade, so if you keep updating via Sony's server you won't be able to downgrade at all.
which requires another PSP that has custom firmware on it
thank you dark alex you rock!!!!
can anyone get it to work off the server from the psp? i tried but get a error everytime. I have M33 on my psp now already. I know i used it that way on the last update.
Much thanks, we all appreciate ur work.
dark alex should drop the psp and move onto ps3!! :D that would be soo damn awesome playing emulators/ps2/ps3 games from the hdd :D
Even though the psp specs are higher than a PS2s. U need a cpu much much higher than the thing you want to emulate. So thats why we get a pS1 emu.
