The fact that 360 and PS3 sales are that high for this year shows the next gen came out too early. I mean don't get me wrong, I think both are great, but why release new systems when the older ones can still push fantastic numbers...baffles me. Anyway great numbers for both companies

I think you read the chart wrong. It's showing what numbers PS3 and 360 did in the first 12 months they were released vs the ps4 and xb1 in their first 12 months.

Oh, I did haha sorry everyone who disagreed

Interesting reading but I wonder what the difference would be if you put the Wii and WiiU numbers in there too.

Pogmathoin1288d ago

At this point I think everyone just considers Wii/U a different market. They are never in these charts, surveys or comparison charts....

mcstorm1288d ago

I know but the wii was the best selling console the beginning of last gen so be interesting to compare it with them all this gen.

LordMaim1288d ago (Edited 1288d ago )

The reason that the Wii isn't included in these charts is that including the data would cause misleading results. At the time, the Wii was a very cheap console that included the brand new concept of "motion control", targeted casual players, and was a popular choice for a second console for those that already owned a PS3 or Xbox 360. There's no equivalent console out today that fills that role.

If you include the wii and wii U, the old gen destroys new gen. Only because the wii U is selling like crap and although the xbox is selling well now,its the PS4 who has to pick the slack of the other 2. The PS4 is a juggernaut, but the wii has comparable numbers to the PS4 and the rest cant uphold the numbers (Wii U, and to some extent the xbox one in the first months)
