A homage to GTA 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360.
The last great game of 7th Gen (along with the Last of Us)
For me, there is still Tales of Zestiria that will be a great game on the previous gen.
Funny... thinking back at all the PC fans who underestimated those systems back then. Things haven't changed much. PCs have always been more powerful with the right hardware, but I've been playing games for over 2 decades and they think that repeatedly reminding people of this is gonna change their minds. [on topic] Tales and Persona 5 will be the last 2 great games on last gen. However, I'll be getting P5 on PS4 most likely.
Persona 5. Nuff' said. And probably the port of Mortal Kombat X next year ..if the lastgen ports won't be bad.
i agreed with you just because your a persona fan, but persona 5 is also on ps4 so it really doesnt count.
By that logic, Last of Us and GTA V would not count as well, all three games started as Playstation 3 games
Persona 5 is coming out on ps3 and ps4 the same day while the last of us and gta v are considered remasters. Its not the same situation. remasters are considered new games imo since for one they can only be found on current gen consoles. wether or not there a new experience is entirely up for debate.
I Love how you guys make fun of a certain group for shooting games you call them dude Bros, but you guys sound pathetic with your weabo JAPanese games.
the X360 has 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM just to let you know.
512mb was not available to the developer, not sure what the exact amount was but 512mb was for the game and the ui.
Actually both consoles had 512 mb. PS3 just split it at 256mb for the Cell and 256mb for the RSX GPU.
Ps3 has 256mb of ram +256mb of vram, quiet impressive game for those specs
"The PS3 had just 256MB dedicated to games and the Xbox 360 had 512MB shared between the GPU and CPU." WHY do they always say that? http://develop.scee.net/fil...
"Let's look at the PS3 system and it's memory specs. There is 256 MB of memory devoted to video only, and 256 MB left for the OS and the game." "Keep in mind that all of the above, and possibly even more, must be done in only 213MB of memory in a worst-case scenario. The extra 256MB of memory is for the video rendering only, so it can't be used for anything with the game outside of that." http://www.gamasutra.com/bl... Please correct if am wrong through.
The point is PS3 has 512 MB to work with, same as 360.
The GPU RAM is completely usable in the same way, only separated by low bandwidth between the two pools. Cell can use GDDR3, and RSX can use XDR, but the low bandwidth is a bottleneck that has since been solve by buffer solutions. Games like GTAV or the few multiplats that are better on PS3 than 360 wouldn't look the way they do otherwise.
incredibly talented team, other devs really need to take note.
Yes, and also at the fact that they don't milk their franchise year after year with the same rehashed engine from five years ago.
Yeah......except not every other developer has $150M for production and $100M for marketing. ....but other than that humungous price tag that's out of the reach of 99% of all developers, I GUESS it's equal footing for developers in the industry. When Rockstar can build GTA 6 on a small budget with 80 people, then I'll be impressed. Until then, being able to purchase AAA quality is not impressive to me.
Gta doesn't need money for advertising. And yeah Rockstar is thee most talented sev group right now.
They built up to that point that they can have a budget that high. There is a reason...there games are very good and they have the talent to back up having a high budget. Give $150 million to that 99% and I dont think you would get what we get from rockstar.
But it's what they do with that AAA development money that's impressive. It shows that they are really interested in giving the gamers a quality game and not just out to make a quick buck every year.
Those images almost made me cry!
Last gen version feels like a beta compared to current gen version.
Kudos to Rockstar my second favorite devs behind the wizards of ND who have brought us the best looking games on any console! Rockstar are awesome and GTA5 was touted and actually ended up being as good as they had told us it would be. So many things to do, big world and they still pulled off a great looking, immersive game.
This is what should excite people about "current gen" stuff. To think that SOME developers are able to push games like GTA V on a PS3 and Xbox 360 and how great it was should excite us to know what PS4 and Xbox One hold, especially in the future. Sadly the growing pains are currently in (AC:U, The Evil Within) where games have performance issues but it'll all get sorted.
Thats Crazy! Kudos to R*
the PS3 had 2 pools of memory. 256MB of GDDR3 for the GPU and 256MB for the CPU. Now, if the PS3 only had 256MB for games, according to GamingBolt, that means the system was using only one of the pools. Or maybe 128MB of each pool? (=256MB). This still makes no sense because the PS3's OS ran on an SPE and using 120MB of XDR that was later on reduced to 50MB. So Sony reduced the OS footprint for what? What is using that XDR memory they freed? I know all the answers, what I wanna know is what line of thinking GamingBolt went through to come up with this click-bait nonsense. Especially when there is this: http://www.joystiq.com/2010...
It ain't the hardware... it's the developer... talent, pure talent and dedication. And enormous budgets/dev-time :)
Dedication, for sure. For as huge as their ambitions are, Rockstar never fails to deliver. I trust (and respect) them more than any other developer out there. They take their time to make their games as polished and high quality as possible. GTA V was remarkably bug-free for such a large and complex game world. And they must have some technical wizards working at Rockstar to pull that off on last gen hardware. I can't even imagine how good a GTA (or Red Dead) built from the ground up for PS4/XB1 is going to look.
It was closer to 512 than 256. I know some was for the OS but it was definitely more than 256 available for games.
That was a really great effort from those guys. It certainly surpassed my expectations. I hope games that good are made sooner rather than later on the new generation. Games that pull more out of the machines than people think they are capable of.
I still remember when I first launched it on my PS3 and was blown away by the graphics, I thought I was playing it on PS4 really. Best looking last gen game by far, considering its scope
I remember being blown away by GTA3 when it first released on the PS2 all those years ago and thinking it doesn't get much better than this. I guess I was wrong :)
