It hasn't been the best of launches for 343 Industries and Microsoft. Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been suffering matchmaking problems over Xbox Live since the title was released at midnight on November 11.
Even though I just got the X1 a few days ago and just for the MCC I'm gonna tap out for a couple weeks and come back when the Beta test is over it's just to frustrating but I'd like to thank Microsoft for giving me a reason to take a day off work yesterday and then taking that reason away......well played Microsoft, well played.
if you had any gamer sense you would know that almost every game that comes out day one has a chance of not being able to access online with all the features day one due to heavy volume of traffic or any other server side issues. You seem to need to get your priorities straight too if you're missing work to play a game thats just an upgraded version of a game thats over a decade old. smh
Absolute disagree. If you had any Gamer sense you would understand why someone would take a day off to stay at home and play a game such as this. I did the same thing and a friend came over and we played all day long. We played online and played Halo2 Co Op for HOURS. What difference is it if someone takes a day off to go to an amusement park or something like that versus taking a day off to enjoy this? They both cost 60 Bucks and are incredibly fun. Don't pass judgment on others. It just comes across as jealousy.
i didnt miss work when the original halo 2 came out. i picked up my copy from gamestop and brought it with me to work (along with my xbox). Had me a hell of a lunch hour with even the boss coming in to watch me play. the benefit there was i worked for a computer accessory company (like tiger direct) and the boss was into games as well so it was all worth it. We had a big mitsubishi projection tv in the break room and playing halo 2 back then was.....awe inspiring.
No, gamer sense tells me that this could have been avoided if they had beta tested before release instead of rushing the game to market to get it out for christmas. This is the most disastrous game launch on xbox one yet. @darthv72. A beta test would have stress tested the servers so any problems with them could have been fixed. And no the game does not play fine. I and many other people bought this game for the multiplayer. Multiplayer doesn't work.
@malacath, uhh...i think you are confusing things. The game plays fine, the problems they are experiencing is on the server side which is outside of the game itself. i believe they were experiencing issues just prior but those issues got worse the more people tried to get into matchmaking. Ms is working on it and while they do there are still hundreds of thousands that are able to play the game in various modes online/offline. Trying to equate a glitch in the games programming with server/router hardware issues are two different things. If the game was broken then it wouldnt work no matter what but that is not the case here. A rushed game would be something like ACU because that one is having its share of internal issues.
"'You Deserve Better,' Says 343 Industries On Halo: The Master Chief Collection Problems" http://i.imgur.com/Ur92K.gi...
Hey...343 has earned my respect as a gamer today. They recieved feedback, took note and are now working to rectify these issues. Gamers do deserve better,I can think of another game developer that should take note, this is how it's done.
@malacath... https://www.halowaypoint.co... "11.12.14 - 11:10 AM PST Update Next update coming: 11.12 - 5 PM PST We have deployed a number of server updates to help improve matchmaking. These updates should expedite search times and allow you to find matches faster and easier. We are actively monitoring data for wait times and will continue to modify as necessary.Additionally, we are monitoring all non-matchmaking feedback, and still targeting another release for this weekend. Please continue to use the support forums to report and discuss issues. We will continue to work until issues are resolved, and thank you for your continued patience. Please stay tuned to this thread for regular updates." try it now, no guarantees but they have been working on it.
I have to wonder will sites who already reviewed this remaster will re-review it based on those problems and that 15GB patch ?! or what about the sites who are waiting for this remaster to be fixed before reviewing it because they never waited for any other games to be fixed ...too much double standards. Also honest question, WTF happened to developers this gen ?! they launch games that have problems and then ask you day one to download not just 500MB update patch or something like that but 15-20+GB update patch and what worse those patchs don't do much
hahaha get a life with some friends nerd. my god there's more to life than games, im a true gamer but never let a games online affect how i perceive a game, i know eventually the online will work and be amazing, all you disagree with me cause yall still jerkin it.
Feel for you mate sucks when these things happen especially after a new purchase. Havent bought the game yet but looking forward to replaying some of the campaign levels and some of the multiplayer matches.
Play single player?? I'm waiting to play multi-player until it works. So in the mean time I'm playing through all 4 campaigns. I honestly don't care the launch was messed up. Should it have happened?? Probably not. Was it unfortunate?? Yes. Is it that big of a deal?? No. Must be nice to work in a place where you can get a launch day off for a game. Haven't been able to do that in years. So I just deal like the rest of the grown ups and wait till I get off work.
I don't understand? I have played 10+ matches of SWAT last night with no problems, It must be region based?
What's with all these rocky launches lately?
Next Gen is here. Greatness Awaits everyone :/
Pressure from their publishers
I don't think I have ever played an online game that hasn't had launch day problems so I don't see it as a modern day problem. At least you have a huge 4 games worth of single player campaign to get through if you don't want the hassle of online issues during first few days of launch.
Something (or someone) is playing havoc with things. DC had server instability, MCC has server instability, ACU has gameplay instability, the PS4 had FW problems, XB1 had preload/installation problems for CoD... it really makes you wonder what could be next? Nintendo hasnt been hit with anything. and yet the mario kart dlc and smash bros-u are almost here so.....?
Actually, add Sonic Boom with Nintendo, cause that game is full of glitches as well.
Ive been able to play halo 4 with little to no problems but ive only been able to play Halo2 once. They need to fix this asap. Is it just me or does halo 4 look really good now?
Think its you, they all look amazing.
Halo 4 always looked really really good. Best looking game of last gen.
Best looking game of last gen ha ha don't make me laugh.
Umm no. I wouldnt even call it the best looking game on 360
No worries guys, I know you will have this fixed asap. As a matter of fact I was able to get on this morning just fine.
AT least we have Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 campaigns. Plus all the peer to peer multiplayer!
Yep! The amount of disagrees on my comment is ridiculous haha, It's a bad time for us as gamers when people don't enjoy any single player stuff!
I just don't understand I thought they'd barely sold 5 million consoles yet they can't cope with the server demand? Poor, at least with Sony they are talking double the amount of people online bare minimum and yes they have problems also, no one is impervious but yeah unless this halo collection has doubled xbox one lifetime console sales overnight I can't understand how they can't cope.
So you cant understand how it can be hard to support 4 different online games in one package at first?
This is not server demand. The matchmaking is just broken. Probably a bug in the programming.
1. I haven't experienced any issues; it may be widespread, but isn't universal. 2. We still have all 4 campaigns performing flawlessly and plenty of additional content available through the Halo Channel. 343i has a good enough record and reputation to keep me from freaking out over their first technical misstep. Based on that and their immediate response, we have every reason to believe this will be resolved quickly. In short, keep your pants on and refrain from setting your house on fire.
Then you are incredibly lucky. Although it has been said only certain regions are effected.
Well, I now have to retract Part 1 of my previous comment. Maybe I didn't dig hard enough last night, but I've been having a mess of a time getting into matches now. It definitely sucks to have so many issues with that portion of the game, but I'm still confident that 343i and MS will take care of this. Their track record and the humble sincerity of their reaction to this gives me no reason to think otherwise.
People must understand its 4 games their doing online for at once. That cant be an easy task. This isnt the same as a BF4 or DC not working. This is much harder. Its been one day so lets see how it is at weeks end.
So will Polygon lower their initial review score?
Polygon ?!...The most honest and best site to review games who never got paychecks from any company ?! NEVER. HOW DARE YOU ?!
Finally theres a server that is worse than Driveclub's.
Hardly. And please stay on topic.
@TheLastColossus Now you're not. Nice immature personal attack though. Thank you 343 for owning up and getting match making fixed asap. That is why I love you guys. The problems truly sucked but it's how you deal with it which counts. Heres to completing all campaigns on legendary (but seriously get effed with the 3 hour campaign legendary achievement haha). Happy gaming
first match i finally played lol, it was FUN, it was gungoose CTF, man haven't had a blast like that since halo 2 customs back in the day lol servers are still slow though, all the people returning to halo 2 made it go down lol
Despite the servers, IMO this collection is not as good as it should be. 1) I love Halo 3 armor customization and now all the armor is pretty much empty from the game even 4 but honestly the armor in that game was lame so I am not as let down. 2) No ranked playlists yet except H2 Ann which only has 6 maps. IMO there is no excuse for no ranked Slayer, the others could of followed soon after. 3) The menu is not near as intuitive as they made people think. 4) Where the hell is a file browser? Also I hope this was not such a broken mess that when the party leader leaves a MP session it does not let them take the party is just a server problem if not that is just f'd up and I can't help but wonder did they even test it. Disagree and defend a broken product, I won't. I feel like I have an incomplete game. Hell matchmaking in Team Slayer got me in a free for all match. Also I don't think just throwing in a watered down version of Halo 3 and 4 is acceptable. This was advertised as the ultimate Halo collection yet Halo 3 and 4 offer more features standalone. In due time this will most definitely be a great product but as of now it is not
I absolutely disagree. Right now for what you get for just $60 [even if you count out the online play temporarily] is INSANE. How could anyone justifyingly say that you're not getting value for money? And for what it's worth I'm not defending a broken product but the fact is that current only online play is temporarily broken. I'm as pissed as the next guy but how can you mark down the whole package for part of it not functioning roght now? That doesn't add up. Anyways happy gaming halo bros
This launch is rocky, people have paid good money for a product that isn't what it's advertised as. We will be monitoring how long this goes on A fix by weekend is the longest people will wait. IMO it should be running by tomorrow morning
The power of the ☁ and xbox live...but butthis never happens on Xbox...ps..Go ahead and mark me down for trolling
Lets all calm down a little bit 1.Yes, the HaloMCC made XBL melt on launch day but... MS has always been very good about addressing these issues and fixing them in no time 2.Yes its an online game and many online games experience problems at launch but.... that doesn't excuse the fact that this is the biggest launch for XB1 this year and many gamers even took time off to play it. MS should have been ready, maybe given us a weekend beta last weekend so these problems were fleshed out before launch.
This is karma for trolling the Driveclub launch.
So what you're saying is millions of halo fans get some fanboy made up karma for the likes of a few fanboys trolling your driveclub? Grow up will you. That's truly pathetic. Take your fanboy hate elsewhere because no one cares.
Developers and publishers need to slow the hell down and take time to develop, polish, test, retest, test for a third time, THEN AND ONLY THEN should you consider going gold and releasing the title. This generation has already been mard by so-so/horrible hype or launches (Driveclub, Titanfall, Unity, Master Chief Collection, Watch_Dogs) and by the looks of it, it's not going to get any better. Seems like only 1st party games are taken through the ringers and come out strong without many flaws. No game is perfect, hell even Mario Kart and Smash Bros. had a couple issues at launch, but they were fixed very fast and went smoothly after that. This "release first, fix later" attitude has got to stop.
this article is bs. master chief collection flawlessly combines all of the favorite HALO games from over a decade ago. these people need to be drug tested, and then share their drugs, which sho be smokable.
How the heck did this game get so many positive reviews?
Because it's a quality HD remaster collection that gives you actual bang for your buck, maybe? Besides, how many games start off with crap server issues that get cleared up in its first week?
Server issue aside there are plenty of bugs and glitches reported for this game which almost none of the reviews mentioned.
I have the game and have yet to get a match. Not a single match since launch. Not to mention the game freezing on me twice. I'm sure it will all be fine sooner or later but fair is fair. Drive Club reviews all complained about online not working and severely reduced the scores because of it. Halo has had no negative impact on its scores. Everyone knows Halo comes to life with its multiplayer. Nobody would have bought this if it was all 4 Halo single player campaigns. What happened to the servers that automatically scale? Isn't it supposed to automatically fix server related issues? I can see why some playstaton fans feel there's media bias when stuff like this happens.
Server problems for me at least isn't a big issue for this game, you are already getting so much value for your money. I'm pretty sure they will have this problem fixed soon. Thanks 343 for delivering an awesome game :-)
As much as i love halo and how excited i am for the servers to be up. Microsoft jumped the gun and should have taken more time. But Halo Sells and it sells huge. Microsoft knows this and they released a game that should have been out next year. Put the money aside for a change and have a game be polished before you sell it. Don't polish it up after you release it. this goes to all game developers and console makers. No one wants to buy a broken game. You think they would learn from others mistakes but they never do. Its never about what the consumer wants its about the money and i hate that. You want to lose consumer keep treating them like they have been treated recently. The glitch/lagging/broken games that have come out for this "Next Gen" is terrible. we spend our money that is earned via hard work and spend it on something that we can get away or relax with. But when we turn them on or play a game...we get errors or cant connect or parties are shit or enter your problem here. its time to step up and take the extra time to finish your product. you want to know something. If people want the game...they will wait for it. So again take the time and finish it and polish it to be a gem.
