Assassin's Creed Unity Review: A Tale of Two Games | Joystiq

Assassin's Creed Unity is the best and worst of Assassin's Creed. It's hard not to appreciate everything that it gets right, and you'll have a good time if you can wrangle some friends for co-op, but it's impossible to ignore where Unity falls tragically short.

The story is too old to be commented.

Well dang. I am loving every minute of it so far :/

Do you agree with any of the points in this review? Or does it sound too harsh?

AdmiralSnake1108d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

Personally, I love and enjoy the game. However I'm objective here and I believe the points on this review/article is Valid. I haven't encountered these issues, I've encountered ONE bug where I got stuck, so I had to reboot the game, other than that, no issues besides Framerate hiccups, and one lag session in a co-op game.

It has technical issues. Sad to say, that's probably what is frustrating people from enjoying the game.

So nope, I think it's fair. Technical issues stop people from enjoying the game, so it's valid. I would'v rated it higher, simply due to ME not having these issues, but I can't speak for everyone, I know this review doesn't speak for me. If I encountered issues such as this, and how often the Review speaks of, I'd give it the same score.

Also, this seems to be more of a problem/issue on the Xbox one/PC than the PS4 for some odd reason.

Just a side note for everyone reading this, I'm playing on the PS4 Patch version.

The Patch actually was downloaded before I ever played the game. But I bought the Digital Version and it preloaded with the Patch 2 days earlier before it came out. So maybe that's why I haven't run into all these bugs I see.

"Technical hiccups "

I am not sure to be honest. I play this on PC and it's running fine for me. I just hope it will get better for other PC players experiencing these issues as well as console players.

"The area that suffers most from this sort of confused structure is the plot. "

Also not sure. I have played 3-4 hours of the campaign, but I am also not far into it obviously. The introduction to the story, the characters, all have been great. Haven't felt this good since AC2 :)

"Unity is drowning in side content, with plenty of optional missions, random events like thief-chasing or criminal-hunting, and there are puzzles and collectibles to pursue. There's so much to do that participation doesn't really feel meaningful,"

^^ I actually do agree with that, haha. Had the same feeling with Black Flag.

@ AdmiralSnake

Thank's for being real (objective). This is the one instance that I believe in a very serious deduction in review score. When a game is broken or messed up on a technical level, there deserves to be criticism. The criticism is what gets problems fixed/patched.

TheOpenWorlder1108d ago

i agree with this review entirely....

WeAreLegion1108d ago

Ouch. I haven't picked up my copy yet. The reviews are so mixed though. Can anyone who already has the game give me a quick preview? Is it worth putting up with the bugs?

OtakuDome1108d ago

There's more game breaking bugs than I'd like to admit, but the overall build is pretty satisfying, I got a review copy a little early, and the bugs are an annoyance, but even without updates they don't appear too often.

chaldo1108d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

This is the best AC since AC2 so far imo. If you want, you can wait until they come out with a patch to fix these issues. I remember AC3 having a lot of issues, and the finally released a huge patch to fix most of those bugs.

WeAreLegion1108d ago

Thanks for the previews, guys. Have a helpful bubble! I think I'll get it! :)

starchild1108d ago

I haven't played enough to say for sure yet, but so far it seems like a great game. It does have more glitchy-ness and LOD pop-in than I was expecting, but hopefully it can be patched. And it's more annoying than game-breaking in any way.

Gore-Content1108d ago

A better review than ign's.

thornh1108d ago

The vibe I'm getting from gamers is that it is more like AC2 and less like AC3. If that is the case I'll deal with the glitches and hope they iron everything out with a few more patches. Ezio was the best. Hopefully Arno's story will be as good.

AdmiralSnake1108d ago

I recommend watching Rogue on youtube to get the better experience of Arno's Story. They both tie into each other. Assassin creed 3/Black Flag and Rogue, all have something to do with Arno Story, and Unity itself.
