Sure beats scrawling it on the bathroom wall on his last day at the office.
This dude about to be famous! :P
That fact the dude's name sounds like "Shakira" is funny as hell tho.
LOL this is stupid, who cares?
Lets hope Sony does not remove it.
where do we find it so we can scratch it? wonder if theirs a way to remove the code through software hmm
So you would risk damaging your ps4 for something you might never see
Yes, you wouldn't want to damage the precious.
When I was younger I thought developers took blank disks, a pen, and scratch along the back to make the game. That is not true. Edit: What I am saying is that you can't just take it and scratch it.
yea why would you care enough to remove it? Sounds petty
Sounds like Sony's gonna announce a new patch soon lol.
Like 2.02 to make updates more stable LOL
I was wondering why I kept hearing "Hips Don't Lie" in the middle of the night. I guess I can cancel that call to the Ghostbusters.
In the old days people used to leave names and comments engraved on the motherboards. Much harder to remove
Lol who disagreed? I have 5 Amiga motherboards with different messages on them, lol disagreeing for the sake of it me thinks
I never get how people notice that they got disagrees... Do you come back to every comment you make to count your A/D ratio?
Who the F*** disagreed with me, I'll find you. Haha
Can't wait for the PS4 to be cracked and finally see this guys name :P
some people go out big
and some people dont go out at all. like me! still standing. still strong! tree of life eternal!
you can do it i believe in you
Not convinced. If you look at any binary file in a hex viewer like that you will see snippets of readable data. People put their names in code so people know who to argue with about changes. Here is chrome for instance... opening chrome.exe in hex edit shows a similar screen but with the plain texts.. "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." "Symantec Corporation100.U'Syma ntec Time Stamping Services" "VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G50" All sorts of junk can be pulled out of binaries!!!
It's not "junk". Those are just embedded strings, either for messages or other literals. Not entirely sure what doesn't convinces you.
No need to take words so literally. What I am saying is by looking at any binary in a hex editor you will see human readable elements as above. I believe that his name is in the same camp as the random human readable chunks found in chrome.exe. It just happens in this case its a name. What I am not convinced about is that this is some fancy story worthy thing like its been made out to be. I think this guys name is just in the binary as the author and someone happens to have looked at it in a hex editor. He never put it there as an Easter egg or as some hidden mark of territory... its just a part of the binary...
what is HDD code?
Its the driver code for hard disk access from the ps4 system. Its a binary file that when viewed in a hex editor shows a mix of human readable and non human readable executable data.
don't know who disagreed with you, but sounds plausible. Thanks for the explanation.
This is so damn cool, i would definitely have done this, way too cool...
The culprit for the update 2.0 problems?
No, the existence of the PS4 is the reason for its problems.
I see you've got a nasty case of butt hurt. Fortunately, there is a cure. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I think it's the product of mediocre software engineers on the payroll
That's how you leave your mark
It's nice to see tech heads posting comments. It makes me feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
Ha, that's so cool. (imho)
Now what really would've been cool is if he also had left an ASCii photo of himself in the code. Now that would of been ELIte
Actually, that would have been 1337!
Go to a Kotaku link? No.
Yeah, I don't know why people submit Kraptaku articles. Especially from Luke Plunkett, one of the guys that said gamers are dead.
This why I'm on N4G. All the reason to view, choose, or avoid particular sites.
Ha! Not in mine. It's my name in there :P Might be in yours too
I bet that Sony Computer Entertainment would re-hire him if he becomes famous because of this lol
so glad i dont own one. so childish
Developers often do this. It isn't childish. Its like putting your symbol or signature at the bottom or back of a painting you create. It is the mark of someone who proudly developed some software. As long as it doesn't affect the performance and functionality of the software in any way it is not at all a bad thing.
nah, he was leaving and decided to screw things up, proud my ass
@KirbysDump I have worked with hundreds of developers. I have not met a single one that wants their memory to be how they "screwed things up". The development community worldwide is fairly small in comparison to other industries. Doing something bad in your code is liable to put you on a blacklist where you'd never get another job in the industry.
That's Legen... wait for it... Dary!! LEGENDARY!
Coolest news I heard all week
Oh, a groundbreaking story from the talented folk at Kotaku... HAHAHAHA sorry sorry I can't say that and keep a straight face! Voted WTF and NO.
So your ps4 has a guy name tattooed on it a.s.s
lol the PS4 has a tramp stamp
