Love the Killzone series, hopefully Killzone 5 isn't far off even though Guerrilla will be launching their new PS4 series next

ChronoJoe1454d ago

You do mean Killzone 4 right? Shadowfall isn't a main series entry.

BiggCMan1454d ago

@ChronoJoe. Lmfao, yes it is. Do you think it needs to be numbered to be a main series entry?? What an idiotic thing to say.

Shadow Fall is the same continuing story from 2 and 3, they even acknowledge those games histories very frequently.

Sounds to me like you didn't play it or pay much attention to the story.

Mercenary on Vita is the one that is not a main entry in terms of the story happening on console. But still an amazing game.

bouzebbal1454d ago

not bad at all..
i need to go back to it to see if they added anything since release day.

Sharky2311454d ago

I hope they put killzone on the shelf for a little while.

BlackTar1871454d ago

Agree with SHarky enough with the killzones

ChronoJoe1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

lol BiggCMan do you really think they will skip 4 then? I doubt it. I think it's much more likely they'll go back to the old time-line Killzone 4, especially as Shadowfall didn't do very well.

Oh, Infamous Second Son isn't Infamous 3 either.

I thought it was pretty obviously intended to detach them from the brand, thereby reducing any risk that might be incurred from bad press etc.

Oh and news just in, Halo ODST is actually Halo 4, Halo 4 is Halo 5, and we're anticipating Halo 6 next year!

Clogmaster1454d ago

Final Fantasy 3 is 6 is 4 is 2! *head explodes*

The most underrated multiplayer of this and last gen. The Helghan are the best antagonists in video games.

BlackTar1871454d ago

Sorry the most underrated MP is TLOU

SINISTERGENESIS1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

Underrated MP??? Naw sorry but while ok Shadowfall is worse than KZ3 which in turn was worse than the awesomeness that was KZ2... All people do in Shadowfall is spawn trap the others base with air/ground turrets and noobtubes... Sorry but while its playable it's not fun IMO... That game fell off... It looks good but really the game as a whole is meh... OT it's that there's that many people playing it because last I played you'd get maybe 2,500-3,000 playing across all modes at most.

Magicite1454d ago

Does that mean 3m software units have been sold or 3m unique players have played MP?
Nevertheless - very impressive for a launch game.

medman1454d ago

Bring on the robot dinosaurs guerilla!! I am ready!!

If only a tenth of that number was actually active.

Riderz13371454d ago

Surprise! People don't keep playing the same game a year after it was released!

Shocked.

Pandamobile1454d ago

If it's a good game they do.

towelie12881454d ago

This games campaign was boring as hell, but multiplayer i enjoyed it.... ...

MasterOfThe12Blades1454d ago

The campaign was a huge let down for me. Gameplay-wise the game had nothing to do with the previous two installments. If they decide to make another Killzone game I really hope that they'll bring back the full fledged cover-sytem from kz2 and kz3. The multiplayer was decent though..

Volkama1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

That's pretty damn high numbers considering the game didn't exactly receive top review scores.

I have it sitting at home, waiting until I have finished Second Son before I give it a look-in. My disc games have to wait their turn :|

Jaqen_Hghar1454d ago

A man greatly enjoyed it despite not being an online guy. The campaign has very open areas and some cool gadgets to use. Reviewers have been especially hard this gen. Only cross-gen games or remakes seem to be able to get above an 85 on metacritic so far. Even fantastic games like Sunset and Infamous are getting low 80s metas so a man has stopped putting too much stock into these reviewers (well he already did after last gen but even more so now he just watches reviews for games he was mildly interested in to get some raw gameplay footage and hear any glaring flaws).

Septic1454d ago

Well the reason for the high numbers is rather simple; it was a launch title and there weren't many exclusives to buy on the PS4 at launch, which is why I bought it.

Best way to approach the game is keep your expectations low for the game. The campaign, minus some pretty on rails section was a massive drag and the MP is rather basic.

FunAndGun1454d ago

How is the MP rather basic?

there are dynamic spawns placed by players. Turrets, air drones, buddy drones, stun blasts, hacking, shields. Pros and cons to each ability with counters from other abilities. Changing mission types within each game, cooking grenades, very low aim assist....if anything the game has a high learning curve and forces you to use all these abilities if you want to succeed.

I have been playing the game since launch and basic would never be a word I would use to describe it. The main reason Shadow Fall stumbled out of the gate is because there was no XP leveling system or in-game clan support.

Septic1454d ago

"there are dynamic spawns placed by players. Turrets, air drones, buddy drones, stun blasts, hacking, shields"

Firstly, the classes have been whittled down to 3. Then those things you mention hardly improved the game, they were just additional weapons/abilities. I don't get why you mentioned those.

The map design was rather uninspiring; the park and the forest level being prime examples. Skirmishes in The Park resorted to a clusterf*** in corridors with people stationing turrets outside and players being funelled in.

The forest level for instance, you could use the teleport ability right at teh start of the game and end up near the enemy spawn. It was hardly balanced either.

The gameplay was slow, unresponsive and just a plain bore. From un-engaging weapon mechanics, poor map design and just an overall sterile feel to the game with very little depth, its no wonder that the MP numbers for the game withered quickly after launch.

I absolutely do not agree with you about the 'high learning curve'. It was very basic fare. Poor melee, basic shooting elements, snorefest weapon design; its just not a tight MP experience at all imo.

FunAndGun1454d ago

Well if you are a basic player and continuously run into the hallway death cluster, that is your own fault. There are ALWAYS flanking routes in every map and on top of that you could always place a spawn beacon anywhere else on the map.

I would love to see one of your gameplay videos and what type of player you are because I just can't believe you had any success within the game....with it being so basic and all.

SpringHeeledJack1454d ago

@ FunandFun

Don't bother with this guy, he is a hater on anything playstation looking at his comment history, especially on killzone. His youtube name is septic360 so it kinda gives away which camp he is waving the flag for.

According to him titanfall with no single player and worst AI in history and repetitive MP is better. Hell he claimed one of the cons being killzone only having 24player multiplayer yet defended titanfall being only 6vs6 lol.

End of the day the game looked and played great and unlike battlefield that was broken and titanfall that was a massive let down killzone worked. That's why it got it's sales.

The single player was meh but the multiplayer was great. Now stop being salty.

Septic1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

@fun

"Well if you are a basic player and continuously run into the hallway death cluster, that is your own fault."

No mate, I was doing the killing.

"I would love to see one of your gameplay videos and what type of player you are "

This is the only video I uploaded onto Facebook.

https://www.facebook.com/vi...

"I just can't believe you had any success within the game"

Please. I've played games that actually require skill (look at my logo). Don't put KZ in that bunch.

@Spring

Lol one of my many stalkers I see.

"According to him titanfall with no single player and worst AI in history and repetitive MP is better"

Yeah you're not a fanboy at all lol. And yes Titanfall smashes this game to bits.

"Hell he claimed one of the cons being killzone only having 24player multiplayer yet defended titanfall being only 6vs6 lol. "

Where did I do this??

Riderz13371454d ago

MP rather basic? This just tells me you've never played a Killzone multiplayer before.

Septic1454d ago

@Riderz

Then who was that mystical person on my facebook playing the game?

FunAndGun1454d ago

lol, well I could see why you were bored. playing a sniper on TDM. Let me guess, you pretty much only played TDM?

If you aren't playing Warzone you aren't playing Killzone.

Anyway, not trying to change your mind about the game, as a veteran player of Shadow Fall and Killzone, I just don't agree with your lazy assessment at all.

Septic1454d ago

"lol, well I could see why you were bored. playing a sniper on TDM. Let me guess, you pretty much only played TDM? "

Wrong. I tried all game modes but there were hardly any available at launch at all remember?

And I didn't just play the sniper class.

This game just doesn't hold its own against other fps' in the market at all. My assessment is no where near as lazy as the design of Shadow Fall. But each to their own I guess.

Oschino19071454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

You know it's had tons of updates since release which have added tremendously to the overall solid experience that actually worked at launch.

So why do you hold so much judgement and attempt justify it when you clearly haven't played since launch. Wonder if maybe your just a salty Debbie Downer when it comes to most things PS related.

You pretend to be unbiased but it's easy to notice when you take the easy route with vague optimism but then spout paragraphs on paragraphs of criticism.

You are trying way to hard to validate your opinion when honestly it's an ill informed opinion. You don't like it fine, but don't try to speak from experience when yours ended in 2013.

And don't bother going into semantics with me, you get my point, I am not feeding that which lives under the bridge.

Septic1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

"You don't like it fine, but don't try to speak from experience when yours ended in 2013."

So its okay that I don't like it but I'm not allowed to critique it?

Yes my experience did end in 2013. How many times should I give the game the benefit of the doubt? Do I have some sort of positive duty to keep on re-visiting terrible games in the hope that they have changed for the better?

Updates may have improved the experience. Fine. But if the core game is shoddy, what are the chances of the whole experience being vastly different?

"You pretend to be unbiased but it's easy to notice when you take the easy route with vague optimism but then spout paragraphs on paragraphs of criticism. "

What a load of bull. Seriously. I gave you specific examples and broader criticisms. I give you lot the benefit of the doubt, show you my gameplay footage and quantify my points and then your inability to accept any subjective criticisms makes you throw a tantrum?

"Wonder if maybe your just a salty Debbie Downer when it comes to most things PS related. "

Oh dry your eyes mate. I wonder if you can, for one moment, accept some criticism against the brand you hold so dear. My opinion is that the game is average at best. That's it. Obviously, as is evident by a certain segment of people of a fanbase, they are unwilling to accept any criticism whatsoever.

The single player is run of the mill, couple interesting ideas. Killzone 2 campaign was the highlight of the series.

The multiplayer is awesome. It's brutal and while u can go it alone, teamwork is much better.

Torque_CS_Lewith1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

Meaningless since those numbers include multiple users on one PS4/copy of the game.
Shareplay further muddies the water when it comes to significance of unique users.
Then there is the free multiplayer weekends which undoubtedly factor in that 3 million.

All in all, kinda expected more to be honest. Not more sales, but at least more people with the free weekends...

Septic1454d ago

Shareplay was just released as a service. Its hardly gonna make massive difference.

Even free weekends don't stop the numbers from being meaningless. The people still played the game didn't they?

Torque_CS_Lewith1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

They did. But the number is still meaningless because it is a free to play game in essence.
Might as well just say a whole lot of people have tried our game.

"Even free weekends don't stop the numbers from being meaningless."
At least we agree on that ;)

All I am saying is that is a pretty low number for a game that has sold upwards of 2.5 million(?)

That with multiple users per console being counted and the free weekend users too it should be a lot higher. Ultimately it is meaningless because it doesn't really paint any kind of picture.

HeavenlySnipes1454d ago

I doubt many people were share playing this

MysticStrummer1454d ago

I see what you're trying to do there.

spence524901454d ago

Can I have some more Halo for that Reach?

G20WLY1454d ago (Edited 1454d ago )

Of course it paints a picture! Tells us how many unique players played the game.

You know, like it says in the title. And in the description. And the article. ;^)
