The Xbox One is having some trouble with one of its biggest games of the year. Halo: The Master Chief Collection seem to be suffering from some sort of download bug, as pre-loading the game is turning out to be a nightmare.
Digital distribution is the future. The future is broken.
Hopefully people realize that an all digital platform can have some serious problems if not handled correctly. I always hope that Physical copies will always be an option on consoles.
Yeah agreed. How long the whole physical/digital combo remains to be seen though. Digital distribution has become REALLY popular this gen even at this early stage. Hey I didn't know you can check bandwith usage on the Xbox One. That's pretty cool: http://imageslgmr.lazygamer...
But this will probably be fixed before the game even launches... Personally I already have the full pre-load. That plus Sunset Overdrive hogged my limited bandwidth for days :) EDIT: And as above, I didn't know you could check usage like that either.
@mrcornhole I'm with you cornhole...I am a savvy gamer, but even I at times purchase a game and soon regret it because the game is a mutt. I can return a physical copy and recoup most if not all of my money. As long as the same cannot be said for digital, I wouldn't buy a full price retail game by that method. All the other problems that could potentially be encountered by digital only pales in comparison to this, and the fact that I can borrow/trade/sell physical copies quite freely, but digital doesn't offer the same flexibility.
I got mine the day it could be preloaded without a hitch, so it must be a case by case basis.
Sounds like his connection isn't up to the job. 2mbps? To download a 65gb game!? Why not just buy it on disc?
Because preloading etc... apparently people are also struggling on 10mb lines..
Being that this is a review copy, it may be the only way 343 is distributing them. The real question lies with the internet speeds of all those whom are having issues. We only know that the writers is capped, unless the others would post their status of service I wouldn't rule out a bad server. @ Lazy I'm not disbelieving your statement, but are those people on a true 10 or is that what their company claims where it's 10 for an area that gets spit off to multiple buildings. I know Comcast is notorious for that.
Too many unknowns. But if you take a look at his usage log, you can determine his downrate. He was getting about 700MBs an hour. Which isn't too bad. Comes out to -1.6 Mbits/s
I should at this point mention, that the review copy is exactly the same as the regular digital version of the game. The only difference being that a second code is given to us in order to unlock it as well.
1.6mb is bad eonjay! 1.6 MB is good seeing as thats around 14mb. I have 15mb which when changed to MB is 1.8, at that speed im getting 6GB+ per hour.
One swallow does not a summer make.
I like the saying,never heard it before.lol
I only get 2.5mbps and predownload all the time. It takes 2 days but it elimates the hassle of driving 45 minutes to my nearest store for the midnight launches. A hour and a half driving there and back is pretty rough when all you want to do is sleep.
I had the same problem. Downloaded to 77% one day then fell to 32% the next and was at a dead standstill all day. I restarted the download and left the power saver feature off all night while at work (graveyard shift at a jail) when I got back from work it was fully downloaded.
How fast is your connection?
I have no idea. It's the Xfinity Blast. Internet plus with Blast.
Thanks, I have the same thing. Its really fast... I asked because we were trying to determine if the issue was caused by inadequate speeds. I guess not. If you are interested in finding out your speed, use this tool directly from Comcast. http://speedtest.comcast.ne... My speed is a massive 125MB/s down and 12MB/s up.
Edit #4 Comment made by mistake
I had no problem downloading it. I have around 80-100MBPS
I was wondering when we would get some more doom and gloom articles for the Xbox, it's been a couple days. Oh the headline is click bait too. 1.7 mbps is slow for a 60GB DL. When I use to have 1.5 mbps it would take around 10 hrs. for a 10 GB DL.
I may have sounded a bit harsh with my last post. But it truly does sound like crappy internet. 60 GB DL is huge I've never DL'd that many GB before. I wonder if pausing the DL every day has something to do with his issue. It should'nt but stranger things have happend in the tech world.
No problem downloading here 40Mb connection and it only took a few hours whilst I was doing other things. Roll on release day!! :D
Got mine already pre-loaded with no problem. Just waiting for Nov 11th now!
My predownload downloaded just fine. But then again, I pay good money for good internet. Sorry to the ones having trouble
Lucky!!! I'd gladly give more to get higher speeds, but here in West Virginia you're lucky to find people that get 5mbps. If you get 25mbps around here you're doing something right. Since WV is the Mountain state there's really only 2 options, Frontiers slow ass DSL or satellite internet. I live 5 minutes from town and there are people a mile away from me who can't even get DSL yet because it's still unavailable in their area.
I pay $78 a month for 30 MBPS I currently live in NC
@ MetroidFREAK21 I pay $90.00 a month for 2.5mbps....It's outrageous I know, but there's really only two options pay the money or don't have internet.
works like a charm.. probably your connection.
This happened to me last week. I tweeted about it. Took. my system to my parents house who have an uncapped 100mb speed and after 9 hrs was only finishe 32% .I took out home left it on all night on my. paltry 5mb connection woke up to it at 68% and then it jumped back to 32%. Had to delete the file and. start over again and that worked. Finally I'm playing the game but I was pissed because I wanted to play last weekend.
When were you doing the live stream?
Last night. Might do it again tonight but I have evolve to play as well
I stuck Evolve on download this morning. Looking forward to getting home and checking it out. Looks mightily interesting and will be good to see if it has legs.
Ive got a 7Mbps line and in about 17hrs I had 74% done. Thats the last time I check then I had to go to work. Ill be checking as soon as I get home to see if its finished.
Total BS. The guy has a 2Mbps line with extremely low data caps and he keeps resetting and pausing the D/L. I have heard no one else complain about this problem. Move to a modern country or city. I have 100mbs with the option of 1,000mbs. I built my entire house with Cat 6a cable to allow 10GBASE-T to every room. The "future" is here and it's pretty awesome. We don't even have cable outlets in the house. It all comes over Fibre into ethernet jacks. Hot wire provides 2 lines to each house. 1 for cable, the other for internet. No sharing. You can't get Internet off the TV outlet or vice versa. I rocks living in a city "Miami" where everything is brand new.
Most people cant just pack up and move city or country due to family or jobs or other commitments. Especially if they are just moving for internet speed. Sometimes it doesn't matter where you live either. I live in a modern country in a decent sized town and the best I can manage is 7mbps. A mate of mine lives in a small mining town of 4000 people and he gets 94mbps.
I downloaded perfectly fine and so did my friend
I get 50mb and I downloaded halo, assassin's creed, duty, and sunset overdrive all in one afternoon. Now if they'd just let me download that 20gb patch for halo early...
Sounds like people trying to blame Xbox for their bad internet. It's your fault if you play online games and are only willing to invest in less than 2mbps down.
50 mbps here..downloaded it in about an hour and a half
The guy is only downloading 600mb an hour hes got a fairly slow connection. 5 hours he would still be only 2gigs through thats hes problem, he needs faster internet.
Downloaded and waiting for release! No problems here...
Mine is 0.45 Mbps Bt hub 3. WTF!!!!
