Not really.

Exaggerating much?

The medical ward is one of the most intense areas of the game. That's where I'm at at the moment and holy crap it's terrifying.

toddybad1420d ago

Is it as terrifying as PT?
That has set the bar.

Just wait until you get to the level called 'The Trap'. You even have the flamethrower at that point, but he just becomes more aggressive once you get it. IMO its become even more intense.

@toddybad

It's a different kind of frightening. PT is the sickening "fear of the unknown" kind of creepy horror. Alien: Isolation is the "dear god, the monster is two inches away from you, hold your breath" kind of terrifying.

Both two of the scariest games ever for different reasons, in my opinion.

I like it, it's got great atmosphere (haven't gotten that far in it yet).

But a big complaint I have is how much loud jump-scary stuff there is. Creapy audio is best when it's quiet, some of the loud bursts seem forced and really take me out of the immersion.

I half agree. I say half because the movies were kinda like that too, and in that regard I think it captures the source.

It is really good but nothing to me has topped Silent Hill 2. That scene getting chased by Pyramid Head down the long hallway to the elevator is haunting.

Maybe.. Depends on how you're measuring "scariest"

IMO it might be the most consistently scary - SH's highs are higher, Siren is more twisted and nasty, but the fact that A:I is so constant with it's dread and the panic inducing stuff - ( partly because it's pretty unpredictable.)

I bet if you rigged up a heart monitor to A:I and made people play it in a dark room with surround sound, optimal environment, and compared the readings to other games - it'd score incredibly highly against other games.

Someone needs to do a study with brainwave/pulse monitoring. XD
