Gamecrazy submits that Alien Isolation isn't just the most frightening Alien game ever, but maybe the scariest game period.
Not really. Exaggerating much?
The medical ward is one of the most intense areas of the game. That's where I'm at at the moment and holy crap it's terrifying.
Is it as terrifying as PT? That has set the bar.
Just wait until you get to the level called 'The Trap'. You even have the flamethrower at that point, but he just becomes more aggressive once you get it. IMO its become even more intense.
@toddybad It's a different kind of frightening. PT is the sickening "fear of the unknown" kind of creepy horror. Alien: Isolation is the "dear god, the monster is two inches away from you, hold your breath" kind of terrifying. Both two of the scariest games ever for different reasons, in my opinion.
I like it, it's got great atmosphere (haven't gotten that far in it yet). But a big complaint I have is how much loud jump-scary stuff there is. Creapy audio is best when it's quiet, some of the loud bursts seem forced and really take me out of the immersion.
I half agree. I say half because the movies were kinda like that too, and in that regard I think it captures the source.
It is really good but nothing to me has topped Silent Hill 2. That scene getting chased by Pyramid Head down the long hallway to the elevator is haunting.
Maybe.. Depends on how you're measuring "scariest" IMO it might be the most consistently scary - SH's highs are higher, Siren is more twisted and nasty, but the fact that A:I is so constant with it's dread and the panic inducing stuff - ( partly because it's pretty unpredictable.) I bet if you rigged up a heart monitor to A:I and made people play it in a dark room with surround sound, optimal environment, and compared the readings to other games - it'd score incredibly highly against other games. Someone needs to do a study with brainwave/pulse monitoring. XD
I couldn't agree more.
I really need to go get this game, like yesterday
Yes you do, its incredible.
Definitely ONE OF the scariest!!! But clock tower 1 on ps1 was really good too
It's more stressful and tense than being the scariest game ever
Great game! On edge constantly (the playable parts anyway lol) scariest? Maybe, at least till SH.
rented this game and shadow of mordor 2 great games hard to pull away from destiny though constantly getting bombarded by help messages for the raid. hard when you have 3 lvl 30's
Every time I see that alien I shit my pants
It started out tense as hell, but as the game goes on the alien becomes less-and-less frightening until it ends up just being an annoyance. Shame.
Its definitely scary, but I'd say an even better word to describe is stressful. Probably the most stressful and suspenseful game I've ever played. You never get any real relief, although the pacing is excellent. One of the best single player campaigns I've played in a while.
Glad to see its getting all the attention that it deserves. The only game i can recall that has this level of tension is F.E.A.R. It should have gotten better reviews than it has got. After playing this game i realized that reviews have gotten very shitty lately
Depends on what you're reading TBH. Amnesia can be quite terrifying if you've played that.
