Did Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below Meet Your Expectations?

Christopher Buffa (Prima Games): After weeks of speculation, Activision and Bungie officially laid out the details for Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below. We’ll refrain from listing the particulars; you can read about the new missions and Crucible arenas in this story. Rather, we want to know what you think.

We may not have concrete stats, but lots of people continue to play Destiny on a daily basis, despite the game launching on September 9, just ahead of a crowded holiday shopping season. Hardcore and even casual players quickly beat the campaign, and have since teamed up with friends to level grind in the hopes of acquiring the best Legendary and Exotic items. Whether or not Destiny has World of Warcraft staying power (10 years strong) remains to be seen, but the fact that Bungie’s title remains relevant is impressive.

Depends on how long the few story mission are and the quality and depth of the narrative. I was expecting more like 3 new strikes, 5-6 hrs of (good) story, 3 maps, "free" gear, and a RAID.

Can we play the dlc before we begin to shred it apart. I love this game, so far that's enough for me.

LordMaim1333d ago

No kidding. How can they ask if it "met our expectations" when we haven't even played it yet? Talk about jumping the gun.

Spinal1333d ago

There is a new raid. Did you even check the new details?

Plus 3 new crucible maps, level cap raised to 32 and new weps armor an 2 more strike missions an extra one for ps only.

What I hoped for tho was for the third subclass but it is probably too early to implement that.

I'm glad I traded this piece of shit in. I know Bungie is capable of making a great game; however, Activision will just milk Destiny for everything they can get. They'll probably try to release at least 2 expansion packs a year for the next 4-5 years until Destiny 2 releases.

60 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = $220

So they are pretty much asking gamers for $220 for a game that could be contained in one $60 game with 1 or 2 DLC packs. FUCK THAT!

Destiny 2? You do realize that Destiny is supposed to last 10 years right? Theyre just going to keep patching/updating it for the next 10 years, like how every MMO is.

Clown_Syndr0me1333d ago

That just wouldn't work for Destiny.
Its okay for WoW to look dated as it is so unique and its about the players.
No one wants to play a 10 year old dated FPS in a 3 man fireteam.
Plus, the content just isn't there.

ramiuk11333d ago

actually there is 3 destiny games planned.
and DLC inbetween

Lol, paying over $100 for a single game. What has gaming come to? (sigh)

Gameseeker_Frampt1333d ago

I wonder if your head would explode if you learned about World of Warcraft?

I'm willing to risk it. Please go look up WoW with people paying $12.99 a month to play it for 10 years now.

What has gaming come to? (circa 2004)

objdadon1333d ago

I paid 15 bucks a piece for the first 2 cod ghosts map packs and never played them lol! But I'm approaching 270 hours on destiny so 20 bucks is nothing for the joy I'm experiencing from the game. if you think it's too expensive it's because you don't like the game so just don't buy it. I and many others will!

The_KELRaTH1333d ago

I'd pay $20 as I've enjoyed playing Destiny for the most part but unfortunately Activision have decided to rip off The UK and Europe by not charging a fair price based on exchange rates.

I'll therefore be skipping on this and opt for a new game instead.

It's a real shame as Destiny, being an online only game, relies on lots of gamers being active. Not much point in offering 3 and 6 player only content if there's not enough players to match up.
