That headline needs to change. From the article:

"Worry not though, because it didn’t."

1nsomniac1427d ago

Not really because that's exactly what it looks like when it happens. It's quite clearly explained in the title.

It may look & act like it has died a death but it hasn't. It's pretty clear really & I would imagine very helpful to people. Don't worry it's not going to hurt your poor Sony's image!

GribbleGrunger1427d ago (Edited 1427d ago )

Maybe it does now, but it didn't when I posted that.

"Don't worry it's not going to hurt your poor Sony's image!"

How old are you?

Is anyone else on here having the blinking orange light problem when putting the ps4 in rest mode? My ps4 won't wake up from rest mode since the update. I now have to hold the power button in to reset it while in the rest mode.

@gatormatt80
Nope. Maybe you should shut it down completely and then see if this happens again.

"remove all sharp objects and valuables from the nearby area to minimize damage caused,"

Is this satire? Do people really need this kind of prep for hitting the power button?

CorndogBurglar1427d ago (Edited 1427d ago )

For hitting the power button? No. But how many people would know to press and hold it for 10 seconds and then choose rebuild database? Come on. Don't be that guy.

wsoutlaw871426d ago

pretty much everyone should know by now how to reset something by holding a power button.

cyclindk1426d ago

Wait until you sever all the fingers on your right hand .... Just wait, try typing on an iphone with only your nubs, it ain't easy, if only I had been more careful.

WeAreLegion1427d ago

I was actually concerned after this happened. It wouldn't power back on for a good minute, no matter what I hit. Then, it restarted itself twice. Then, it finally stayed on. Very confusing. I freaking love the update though! The themes from the Japanese store are excellent.

I wish it had fixed the FOUR MINUTES DELAY for a message to appear, but I guess it's too much to ask for a properly working machine.

swishersweets200311427d ago (Edited 1427d ago )

took my ps4 an hour to delete one message... yay for greatness still waiting.

ger23961427d ago

It should be faster than that on your imaginary ps4.

OculusRift1427d ago

Upgrade your internet? I have internet speeds that range and I have yet to see any lag while loading up friends or messages.

N4GDgAPc1427d ago

Its defenitly not internet problems. I got great connection. This doesn't happen to everyone though. Makes me wonder if its something with the hardware side that causes it to take a long time to load.

I can download from ps4 really fast but take 50 secs to load a message.

jspsc1231427d ago

it has nothing to do with internet. ps3s messages and friends is faster than the ps4s. ps4 needs to fix this sh

Pathogenic1427d ago (Edited 1427d ago )

Dude it's not just about internet connections here. I have the ultimate package for Internet with unlimited bandwith and I'm running Lan connection.

To say you have no problems and to tell everyone else to upgrade makes no sense. I still have the same problems. It takes awhile sometimes.

Here's a tip I figured out for those that are struggling to remove the messages.

1-Restart PS4 fresh
2-Goto messages
3-Click on message to delete
4-Wait two seconds (If it deletes your good) if not step five.
5-Leave the message and go back into the same message.
6- Press delete again. It should say you cannot delete. It should then disappear.

Continue these steps. Times may vary on deleting but I managed to get 15 messages deleted in 5 minutes.

*Remember to restart PS4 and go directly to messages. Don't do anything else but that*

"Continue these steps. Times may vary on deleting but I managed to get 15 messages deleted in 5 minutes."

Saying this as an accomplishment shows the extreme level of absurdity and low quality on the PS4 build hardware and software wise. Simply disgusting.

Lots of other problems enforce this notion. LOTS.

@ger2396

i own a ps4 dumbass. don't like the truth?

wsoutlaw871426d ago

ya when did this start happening? I never had an issue before, but now it says i got a message like 3 minutes before it shows.

Palitera1426d ago (Edited 1426d ago )

Months ago. Googling about it, there are several posts about it from long ago, it just became worse and widespread now.

Laziness is the key word.

When I went to install the update this morning, the screen went black, and the light on the PS4 was white and looking like it was doing something. It was going on forever though, and the controller couldn't turn the system on, holding the power button wasn't working - though I may have not held it for the full 10 seconds. So, I did the stupid dangerous thing and unplugged it.

Luckily, it rebuilt the database and the install finished and everything seems fine. I usually stay in standby mode when not using it, but I turned it off after that. I guess I should try standby mode later and make sure it works properly.

NaAsAr1427d ago

Same for new this morning

indyman77771427d ago

I'm not sure that you unplugging it caused it to rebuild your database, I didn't unplug mine, and mine did it too! I didn't go near it. It only took 3 second before rebuilding database said 69% complete. Then it slowed down in took another 20-30 seconds to finish.
