PS4 comes quite close, but PC is the clear winner (provided a high-end configuration).
A valiant effort by PS4, but the raw power of a high-end PC shows.
agreed - ps4 can't match a high-end pc at all. but I think ps4 is still the overall winner due to the exclusives.
And PC exclusives are just chopped liver I suppose then?
Maybe in your opinion but objectively you are wrong http://s1295.photobucket.co... The picture is the proof.
Actually right now PS4 exclusives aren't that great. But they will be, once Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog finally release something.
Some of you really just can't give credit and then let it go, eh? Firstly, this is an article about graphics. Nobody asked you your opinions on the PS4's library. Also, the exclusives library you brought into question is almost non-existent at this point to boot.
What ps4 exclusives?
You lot keep saying the word exclusive. What about it? PC has like 10 times or more exclusives out every month compared to what consoles get in a year
Craving for blood are we?
yes, but for the first time when i play on my PS4, i dont see too much difference to my PC like other Generations. 1080p is a nice resolution. Standard. More resolution than that is really hard to tell in small TV or monitors. I mean, 4K, 5K, 8K... by now.
This is just the beginning of the generation...In 2-3 years, the difference will be much bigger.
^In 2-3 years PS4 also has games from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Media Molecule, From Software, Quantic Dream and many others that you can't find on PC... meanwhile, PC's that outclass the PS4 will cost you 3x as much.
That's wrong. It's easier to see more resolution in smaller displays. A 24-in 4K display will remove the need for AA in games because the pixel density makes everything look smooth(If the machine is running the game in 4K obviously).
@thehobbyist I wasn't answering this thread but you are so wrong that it gave me eyes cancer... You don't see any difference between 1080 2xAA and 4k no AA in a 24-in display... With that display area, you cannot even see the difference between 1080p 2xAA and 1080p 4x AA in a normal view distance from the display. And it doesn't make everything look smooth, it makes everything look clear. I think you should go to a store and see it by yourself.
Looking at these screens they look almost identical if not identical. I guess anything to justify spending thousands on your gaming PC to feel better about your purchase.
I spent $650 and my machine plays everything at max settings except for Crysis 3 at better than 40 fps. People really need to stop pretending like pc gaming is too expensive. If you know what you are doing a decent cheap build is attainable.
wait so its ok the argue over a difference between 900p and 1080p but its identical between ps4 version and pc version, but with not only the nvidia exclusive feature and other effects consoles cant handle, but better aa, shader, filters, draw distance, textures, better physics, lighting, gfx effect, and that not even at 4k where these shine better. the use the its better in motion for ps4 games which we told them last gen when it comes to some gfx effects but somehow its moot when pc comes into play. i also like that fanboys act like 900p vs 1080p is a huge gap but 4k which is 4x 1080p is not significant. "Looking at these screens they look almost identical if not identical. I guess anything to justify spending thousands on your gaming PC to feel better about your purchase." jriquelme_paraguay "yes, but for the first time when i play on my PS4, i dont see too much difference to my PC like other Generations. 1080p is a nice resolution. Standard. More resolution than that is really hard to tell in small TV or monitors. I mean, 4K, 5K, 8K... by now. " these the same people that said they dont see the gap last gen but say thing like far cry 4 looks amazing. lmao it looks just like far cry 3 with deeper colors. tomb raider and metro looks amazing. you do know metro came out a long time ago and they tweek it a lil and tomb raider is a straight port with different lora model right. they go only thing pc have is higher res it doesnt make a difference, when we all know it has way more advanges than that. then tlou ps4 [email protected] it look amazing completely different lmao. the contradictions never stop with ps fanboys. we had games last gen that look like yall next gen games, but suddenly now you see the difference when its on ps4. we re doing the same thing again and like before fanboys are denying it like last gen, and as tech moves forward and console CONTINUE to be left behind with new gfx features the gap will only get bigger while at 4x 1080p(4K). i guess sony fanboys will say anything to make them feel good about their purchase. quick lets mention price and exclusives when we know this is about gfx and tech. too late
almost 3 times the price surely its expected?
PC running a i7 3770 and GTX 780Ti; Crap the video card alone is more than I paid for my PS4! It should be a LOT better then. Wow, meaningless comparison.
Let us not forget that the PS4 is doing pretty well in comparison, especially when it's being compared to a rig that costs about 4X more than its sticker price...can't expect a mustang to do Ferrari type performance unless you put a lot more money into the mustang. Something you can't do to a PS4.
It does still look good on both, but as always, the PC does outrank the console. The main difference I can see is the backgrounds are less focused on the PS4 version.
I think in these situations a PC will always come top. Were it not for the social "get your mates around on the sofa for a pizza and games" aspect of gaming, I think consoles would have died a while ago and everyone would be engineered towards PC gaming.
It's not just that, but also PC gaming comes on top simply because it costs a lot more. Even here, PS4 is the winner in terms of price/quality, there's no $/€ 399 PC that will give you that graphics. Still, as a hardcore gamer I can't help but try to get the best version of any game and that is absolutely the PC one in almost every case, with the proper hardware.
Me too. Which reminds me that I need to upgrade my PC..
"Even here, PS4 is the winner in terms of price/quality, there's no $/€ 399 PC that will give you that graphics. " True, but there is a $399 or less graphics card that will. Any desktop with Core i5 or better should be fine for almost all PC games. It's mainly the GPU that's holding peoples desktops back. Still, as an overall package you are right.
Scroll down this list. Look at the "Next-Gen crusher" build. http://www.reddit.com/r/PCM... For less than the cost of an Xbone you can have a PC that out-performs PS4
Consoles are way more convenient and cost friendly. No upgrades or installation issues to be concerned with. You also have it sitting in the living room out of the way, and dedicated only to entertainment. You pickup the controller, hit a button and you are gaming. In short, power is not the only factor that determines why people choose a certain platform to game on, and console will continue to co-exist with PC until they become the same thing, which they are not.
exactly, this is something that the "but PC haz better graffix" crowd doesn't understand. The consoles have great graphics and not all of us get bent out of shape if somebody somewhere might be getting better, but marginally perceptable graphics than us. Not only do consoles have less frequent game-blocking issues, but when they do, the onus is on the publisher to fix them. To often when I game on the PC, I'm left having to fix the issues myself, and lose valuable time to researching them when all I wanted to do was play a game!
The main issue is that since PCs are dynamic and upgrade their hardware they will outpace consoles considerably before the next generation. This often times leads to multiplats being gimped or the power of high-end PCs under utilized. Consoles are great for what they specialize in, considering price and availability.
There's no installation issues on PC. I buy a game on Steam. Once it's done downloading I can play. Unless you're talking about hardware installation. Which isn't an issue either. To install a new GPU you just take out the old one and put the new one in it's place. It's as easy as legos. Then you download and/or update the card's drivers.
own both but nod always goes to PC
Mine too, but I admit I use the DualShock 4 most of the time!
Yeah the DS4 is a great PC controller. The best imo, because of the touchpad
You can use the touchpad on PC now?
Comparisons without history and with only one winner.
Maybe it's just me but PS4 version looks better
Really? Come on...It doesn't. It's not much worse, though.
It's definitely just you
Walker . . . it's definitely you. Credit where credit is due, dem bias glasses work wonders for you.
edit: nevermind, I'm think of Shadow of Mordor
As always PC wins. That's if you got the hardware for it... Personally I'm connecting my PC to the TV and going to sit back in my couch playing it with stunning visuals :)
I use my DS4 What was funny was playing RYSE on my PC with a DS4 lol
I have my pc hooked up to my tv all the time, Wouldn't have it any other way. Rather be sat in bed then on a chair.
Was this after the 5GB patch for the PS4 which pretty much fixed good amount of the visual issues? http://n4g.com/news/1611266... Also, it seems like brightness is turned down on the PS4 version.
That patch (as every patch) has been applied to both versions. And brightness wasn't turned down, both were taken from the same display.
Asking a question on a simple image gets disagrees nowadays? Might as well not bother, god forbid I might be right...
PS4 might not be comparable to like a very high end pc but there is some games that ps4 can match to a high or medium spec pc
Like metro redux.ps4 version stable 60 fps,my second pc with i5 4570 2x760 sli still some frame rate problems:) metro is real pain in the pc:s ass:)
*Newsflash* $1000 machine has better graphics than a $400 machine.
I don't think it's $1000 when only the processor and gpu cost around $900. They forgot to add memory, hard drive, board, etc...
lol that's so typical. I was only quoting the price they stated.
Seeing a game in motion makes a huge difference if comparing the difference in graphics and overall presentation. It is sometimes hard to make that judgment call with just screenshots.
Great to see another title taking advantage of PhysX particles and cloth simulation. It really adds an extra layer of dynamism to a scene, and can only truly be appreciated in motion.
lol 800 plus machine vs a 400 plus machine, and the 400 dlls machine can easely go against it ? no to mention all glitches, bugs, patches and more of the 800 machine, the only thing I can say is: I love my 400 dlls machine even more!!! :)
What are these glitches you speak of? Oh wait. You wouldn't know. You imagine them to make yourself feel better
$800 wouldnt even get half the stuff in the PC they used lol its more in the region of 1200 plus
You know you don't have to take it personally when your gaming machine isn't the best there is. Doesn't bother me in the least that my truck isn't as fast as a Ferrari. I have both PS4 and a PC and prefer the PC. But many gamers have better specs and as a gaming enthusiast I can appreciate high performance hardware that someone else has, no need to be jealous..
Consoles and PC are in a different category. I don't get why they make these comparisons. Let the consoles be with the consoles and PC with PC.
Those are comparisons for people who own both platforms. Not Butthurt fanboys who choose 1 side.
Looks like they applied FXAA to the PS4 version.
Meh I get it on ps4 barely any difference at all as usual
Except lower detail and a half to quarter the frame rate.. no, no difference at all.
I own a PS4 and a very nice gaming PC. I am lucky to be able to have both. Basically, the PS4 has blurry as graphics compared to the PC; in other words, a lot less sharp textures. I only play PS4 for exclusive games not found on the PC. But if a game is offered in both PC and PS4, I always choose the PC. No question. The only two games in my PS4 library is Driveclub and The last of us, the latter being one of the greatest games I have ever played. Completely Hooked. I am not one of these fanboys with no logic like I see from the comments being posted. The PS4 fanboys with the argument that they don't care about graphics compared to the PC because the "ease of use", "cheaper" costs compared to a PC is just plain hypocritical. However, these PS4 fan boys love to throw the graphics game card when comparing to the XBOXONE. I follow games and games only. If a platform offers a superior version of a particular game i want, then I'll choose it. Why would I choose an inferior version?
PC ruled! But honestly if I have PS4 I will play on it, if I have XBOX ONE I will play on it. So for me this kind of comparision shows only differrences between platforms. Game is the same in all of platforms.
I have the game on the PS4 and I'm glad that it came on the next-gen because after I bought the PS4 not to upgrade my computer.
The main thing to take away from this is not the visual fidelity of the two but the fact that the PC can render it @ 60fps (or higher) and the PS4 can't. That said, with powerful enough hardware, the pc is also capable of downsampling the game from 4k or higher resolution down to 1080p for a much more detailed and crisp image quality compared to native 1080p rendering.
On my PC Lords of the Fallen looks great. Graphics is on very high level, the lowest fps is 34. So it's good for me. I think resolution is not important in the game, for me better is that game run fluent.
