Hmmm some of this info is wrong.

"For the Xbox One, sports make up three of its top five shows
1. NFL Football
2. 2014 FIFA World Cup
3. Talking Dead

The PlayStation 4 list is very similar:
1. NFL Football
2. Sportscenter
3. Fox Sports Live"

Now the question is the list incorrect or was it just a incorect identification of the consoles?

Kingthrash3603467d ago

I don't know......
But I also don't know why we care. This is supposed to be about gaming but this subject is about tv commercial spending habits.
Ms wins in spending more on the ad side of the console war. Awesome....whats next....wiiu wins on its ability to use 15 year old controllers? Smh while that would be a better subject its still reaching too far beyond embarrassment.
I hate ads and ms has the most of them and that's a win is what I get from this.....is it me or has this "war" been taken to a new low?

xHeavYx3467d ago

No need for Sony to spend a lot of money in advertising, MS did most of the job already

Pogmathoin3467d ago

Typical.... how you have so many bubbles for hatred is beyond me... MS spending power is nothing new, and of course they will spend big this christmas, they simply need to. Sony are on a wave of public praise, but, if it was not for how they got cocky with PS3, you would not have had the way it was at the end of PS3, and you would never have got the awesome PS4. History seems to be repeating with Xbox, but it is different. Here, I will help you move the goalposts.

Incorect? Pun intended or just incorrect spelling? 😐

I just saw this on Gaf an hour ago.

"MS has spent >$47m, Sony >$30m on advertising, PS4 ads > XB1 ads in online actions."

Basically, Sony is gaining more while spending less.

I wonder how much Sony spends in Europe with advertising, specially on those UEFA Champions League adds.

GameDev13467d ago

Sony sponsors them, which means advertising revenue gains for Sony and UEFA, rather than Sony paying them

TheWatercooler3467d ago

I think Microsoft need to learn that they can't just keep throwing money at things and expecting success. They do the same thing with third party exclusives.

Sony are doing it right and the sales are a reflection of that

FITgamer3467d ago

They forgot. MLB i've seen the SO commercial every single world series game so far. Game 4 it aired 3 times. They really went in with that game.

This is why N4G should discuss profit more than sales. Microsoft have just blows money but rarely sees any profit.

Do you think Sony made a profit in the last console generation, specifically with the PS3 ?

IrishSt0ner3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Interesting fact on the 'Xbox Division loses money' front, it's estimated to be around $5 billion. Over the same 10 year period the playstation brand lost around $10 billion. Here's a 5 year period with PS3.

So all you Xbox loses money people, check yourself.

One can definitely see an increase in sales for the Xbox One thanks to the ads. It’s interesting though.. it seems like the Playstation 4 almost sells itself.

Spenok3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Positive word of mouth is a powerful thing. People are more inclined to listen to family and friends, or someone they trust over an advert.

alb18993467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

MS is preparing for holiday putting all in place for a lot of sales.
Incredible reviewed exclusives, price cuts and a lot of advertising.
They will do very good.

ManiacMansion3467d ago

Excatly!

What MS is doing right now is called real competition! I am living in Europe but after seeing all the news MS is trying to keep the xbox as the No.1 for the US market.

There is only a gap of 1 Million units between the xone and the PS4 in the US... MS will for sure take over PS4 sales in this market by the end of the year.

I am confident that the 349 USD bundles + the great exclusives, especially HALO:MCC will give them a BOOM in sales.

Many 360 owners will jump over to next gen just for HALO.

Fallout 4 is now available on next-gen consoles, but PS Plus users might be left disappointed

Probably won't happen for PS+ since Sony makes a clear distinction between a PS4 game and a PS5 game, unlike PC and Xbox where it is not a specific device game (It's now always an Xbox game).

So to make the PS5 game of fallout 4 available. Bethesda would need to renegotiate the complete deal with Sony.
hence why there's often only the PS4 version of the game available on PS+.

Let's hope Bethesda and Sony can arrive to term quickly.

In that same link, they talked to further support who said PS+ owners aren’t eligible. What a load of BS! The upgrade worked just fine for FF7R. I was looking forward to this. 😞

I think a hard copy should be relatively cheap at this point.

Roughly a fiver for disc. It's also £3.99 on PSN right now for both PS4 and ps5 version.

REVIEW: Sand Land faithfully adapts to game form a lesser known Akira Toriyama creation | Showmetech

From Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, Sand Land is a fun adaptation of the manga and anime in videogame form. For all of its simplicity and repetition, it's a beautiful interpretation of the source material.
