The League of Legends World Championship finals took place in Seoul, South Korea over the weekend and this year's attendance has set a new record.
its funny ive been following the league esports scene since season 1, maybe fatigue is setting in or the fact that the meta has stayed the same since forever but this world finals i was completely bored. not only was it one sided, SSW didnt even look thrilled to win. they were like awkwardly standing up there at the end. idk just everything about the worlds finals was kinda boring and just seemed very uneventful, after it was over i just shrugged and closed to the stream and went on to something else the excitement just wasn't there compared to previous years.
I think SSW probably felt like that because they didn't really have a challenge it looked way to easy for them. I just got into league and finals was boring to me as well because it was so one sided.
season 2 was probably the best in my opinion. but these last 2 years even s3 was also kind of a stinker with SKT 3-0 Royal Club. and yes SSW they just won the world finals and looper just looked stone faced the whole time after the last game they probably view this whole world finals as a joke or something.
Had LoL stayed in its Season 1 days where the meta no longer existed, the game would've been so much better. Believe me, Season 1 and Season 2 were the glory years.
Season 1 did have a meta.
Lets compare to dota2 now.
Dota 2 had 18.000~ seats vs League of Legends' 40.000~ Don't know why everytime something is written about either games, that people have to hate on the other one. Dota 2's sub reddit even shared the livestream of the League of legends' final.
The whole meta game is about to change with the new patch coming out new smites and so much more.
