How 13 years changed the language and culture of Dragon Quest games

GamesBeat writes, "Since Square Enix released Dragon Quest VII for 3DS in Japan last year, fans have been waiting not so patiently for the classic role-playing game to reach our shores … along with other recent titles, like Dragon Quest X.

I would love to see:

* Dragon Quest 11 = 3DS
* Dragon Quest 12 = Wii U, PS4 & XB1

* Dragon Quest 8 HD Remake = Wii U, PS4, XB1 & Vita

* Dragon Quest Tactics = 3DS/Vita

* Dragon Quest 7 = 3DS N.A. Localization

And DQ VIII on New 3DS.

"I believe every flagship Dragon Quest title, not just Dragon Quest VII, is worthy of localizing to the best of our current abilities."

Try not to read too much into that. Given how long it's been since DQ7 was released, and how long it would take to localize, the fact that Square Enix still hasn't decided whether or localize it or not essentially means they aren't going to bother.

If they were going to localize it, they would have started working on it at or before the Japanese release. The only reason we've gotten any DQ games lately is because Nintendo localized them, and without Nintendo to step up to the plate, the future of the franchise outside of Japan is bleak.

They don't, as evidenced by the Android remakes with forced-portrait perspective and features removed.

Stop messing with phone games, and localize DQ7!
