Dan takes on Sauron’s Army from the bottom up to find out if Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor is Worth Playing.
Hell Yes. Got that and DriveClub this week.
Hell yeah it's worth playing, especially when you unlock the 'chain shadow strike' and 'unlimited execution' abilities. You walk into a stronghold, let them sound the alarm, and you become the angel of sweet sweet uruk death :)
Damn cant wait to try that.
According to 25 hours of my weekend - HELL YEAH!
Steam is clocking mine to more than 60 hours, but i've been messing with the Nemesis system a lot. :P
Same, I've got 25 hours (according to the game save) and I've only just discovered theres a second map!
Shadow of Mordor is very much worth playing, and i think it's one of the best games i've played this year. Along with Divinity: Original Sin, that is. :)
Considering this or Alien & just can't make my mind up...
Get both if you can.
Shadow of Mordor is deff worth buying. Alien is good too but I'd advise renting it before making the purchase.
Alien is a hit or miss really with people while Shadow of Mordor is just overall a really enjoyable game by most, plus you would get more out of your money with SoM. Been playing Alien since last night and even though its okay...my gut is just wanting me to get back into Mordor lol
I have enjoy alien more than mordor, mordor is pretty frustrating to start with! And been loving driveclub too!
Listen to me go and spend 60$ elsewhere, the game is mediocre, the combat is where it shines and nothing more, repetitive, stupid at times, near the end it gets boring not to mention the end.
Its fun, but I think its a bit over hyped. I think it really boils down to if you are an action gamer or an RPGer. If you like beat'em ups - you will love it. The fighting mechanics are really solid and the Nemesis system is great. 90%+ easily. If you are looking for something more RPG (which to be fair wasn't how the game was advertised - but it is LOTR), then you will love the 1st 3-4 hours and then get a bit bored. Their isn't a lot of depth in the story, or the characters, and once you level a bit its a pretty easy game. What would have put this over the top is a difficulty slider combined with Co-Op and PvP.
i hope co-op is added for the sequel. that would be insane chopping off heads with a buddy!
Dude, Over-hyoed is one thing Shadow of Mordor IS NOT! If anything it was completely underestimated, that's partly why it's getting all the fan love, because it delivers in term of fun responsive gameplay, there's tons to do and collect, and you can just spend hours upon hours just messing with the nemesis system. I do agree that there should be a difficulty setting, maybe with more Captains having combat master invulnerabilities, but still you do end up dying every so often.
I'm about 32% of the way though and before I say anything else I just want you guys to know (to be fair) I AM OBSESSED WITH THE ARKHAM FREE FLOW COMBAT. So I am not sure if it is fair for me to review the game. Having said that..... I say MY GAWD YESS! The combat is similar, but different, adding it's own spice. Not to mention the Nemesis system, the combat upgrades, and everything else. Thanks to this game, I won't be picking up Assassin's Creed (which to me is the same thing every year and isn't really that good in the first place). If you go over to Kotaku, you can see how one player actually turned all the simple minded orcs against their own captain. It takes planning and strategy (2 things it seems tzunoy knows NOTHING about considering his answer). Not to mention the presentation is REALLY impressive...right in the middle of battle a captain will get his own cutscene with a line or 2. The way it zooms in, focuses on your target, and sets the tone for what's about to happen makes you feel like this upcoming battle is going to be epic.....then does not let you down. Certain enemies go down only certain ways and the only way you find out is either the hard way (trial and error) or the smart way (interrogating his bodyguards)....hell, you can even mind control orcs to actually KILL their own warchiefs. It's pretty impressive the length an action game went to add the extra content to the core experience.
harder or easier combat than Batman on hard mode?
Harder because I've played Batman so much that it's tough to get used to the timing. The controls are exactly the same but the functionality of the moves are different. I like how there are cinematic camera angles DURING the fight too (something that I thought Batman needs)
Of course it is great game 😉
It is only the frontrunner for GOTY contender so far... Of COURSE it is!
A man hopes TLoU remastered gets it just for the meltdowns, though personally for a man it looks like this, FC4, or LBP3 will get it (a man hasn't played any but judging by what he's seen)
*shakes magic 8 ball* "All signs point to yes"
Game of the year for me. I want to go there and back again many many times.
