Game Idealist explains why Sony should have their own set of interactive figurines similar to Amiibo, Skylanders and Disney Infinity.
The thing is if they did then people would call them for copying Nintedo
Well nintendos copying skylanders. I mean i doubt if Sony as a corporation cares whether or not people think they're "copying". The PS Move proves that. If there's money to be made they'll consider it. I cant say i'd find this working for sony anyway unless they make another PSASBR or something similar.
Yeah but lets be honest most people are going to ignore the fact Nintendo copied EA/Activison. I see people now who try and twist it to make it look like Amiibo is totally different when it's not. So if Sony did come out they would most likely be called at copying Nintendo, not EA/Activision.
The PS Move / Eyetoy exists even before the Wii mote / kinect both Nintendo and M$ copied Sony in term of motion controls https://www.youtube.com/wat...
@Shinox Sony copied sega!!1! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w... Even if they had the concept of PS move before nintendo, they still released the Move knowing they would be accused of copying. That still proves they don't care as a corporation if they're accused of copying, if there's money to be made. Which isn't really a bad thing.
Well can you blame people for saying that? I mean how many times has Sony followed in Nintendo's steps in the past?
Would be great, i'm waiting for the release of Amiibos to start a collection and Sony has a lot of great characters, obviously. We also can make Super Smash Bros X PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, lol.
Well I'm just buying them mostly because their official Nintendo figurines and looks pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind if Sony did the same. Again, your not obligated to buy it so as long as it isn't forced, I'm cool with it.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! No No No! People bitch and moan about paid DLC and then want a system like this which is worse because it always has you buying new figurines and somehow each new version seems to require a new base every year.. It's worse than DLC
Most importantly, it's more embarassing than DLC. How do you explain your partner or (adult) visitors that you are collecting small figurines of fantasy characters? Gaming is great but I wouldn't go that far for my hobby.
Not even Hunter Gascoigne?
^not even Kratos :D I just don't see a benefit for >gaming< in these figurines, sure they can exist but Sony should not follow Nintendo in this case.
playstation has the characters, but idk figures cost a lot lol
It wouldn't work just like PSASBR. They'd also have to bring in third party characters because a lot of sony's franchises aren't as popular or recognisable as Nintendo's.
Yeah like how ppl said Sony needs their own smash brothers equivalent and nobody went out to buy PlayStation all stars. I think Sony should steer clear as although its one thing to have likeable characters its another thing to make a game like skylanders and Nintendo amiiboo and appeal to the mass market
3 players is enough or the market is going to become Over saturated with these figurines.Plus i don't people's wallets can take much of this....The sequels will be released every year for these figurine...So give us folks a break and our wallets some time to recover.
Sony as much as I'm cool with my Ps4 tend to follow more that innovate. But they can't do as well as Nintendo and Disney as they don't have enough unique ips or characters that stand out to make it worth while.
I rarely comment but: No, they should not make toys. I love Sony and the PS brand and I even enjoyed Playstation All-Star Battle Royale. But other than selling a plush toy of Sackboy as Kratos/Drake/Helghast then PS should not get into this videogame/toy market.
Yeah, I know it's a generally sore subject on this site, and it's usually blown WAY out of proportion but after cutting out the computer division, I HIGHLY doubt that Sony's looking to get into the figurine/ collectible industry.
I would probably buy them as collectables, but I would never use them for their intended purpose.
Sony doesn't have the gaming character infrastructure Nintendo has to warrant a Character line. Sure they've had great franchises, but most of their characters have been used in only a few games where Nintendo reuses characters all the time. And most 1st party Sony characters aren't colorful or distinct enough to get the attention of children. Skylanders has a strong theme of fantasy monsters, Disney is the largets entertainment group in the world, and Nintendo has huge recognition of their cartoon characters from the past few decades (plus they have the whole kiddie image). Sony with their own version will look too much like "Me too". If PS All Stars showed how hard it was to appeal to their core base imagine trying to reel in people with less knowledge of their characters. Plus I don't think a lot of Sony fans "get" this whole concept, it's not something they care about.
I think it would be a horrible idea.
I rarely ever see any positive articles about Nintendo that aren't trolly on this site. Where are the articles over how well Smash on the 3ds did?
As much as I love Sony characters...it just doesn't fit...I just don't think their characters fit these kinds of figures...maybe if they had more characters like jak and daxter than yeah but kratos...or drake...doesn't fit imo
