What’s the Scariest Game You’ve Ever Played?

For horror fans, October is a month-long celebration of all things horror. It’s 31 straight days of scary movie marathons, staying up as late playing horror games, telling ghost stories, visiting haunted houses, and testing local urban legends.

It’s an endless stream of all things fun and scary that leads up to one very special night of the year where old friends garbed in pitch black robes meet in empty cemeteries to continue ancient traditions of sacrificing innocents to appease the Old Ones, lest they return to unleash 10,000 years of hell on Earth.

yes PT was by far the scariest experience I've had with a game, and it's just a teaser

Volkama1205d ago

Ecco the dolphin (seriously)

LightDiego1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

For me it's Resident Evil 6. That amount of bullets, i got shot a lot, even by zombies!
Nothing it's more scary than a gunfire.

Volkama1205d ago

Puh I laugh at gunfire. And zombies.

But the deep dark unknown of the sea? Pressing forward into certain danger, without having the option to pause because you will surely drown if you stay put? Unmatched.

And OMG the blue whale was big.

PaleMoonDeath1205d ago

P.T isn't that scary, after you predict where certain deaths will happen it's a cake walk, scariest demo perhaps but game? not even close buddy.

Batzi1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

That could be said about any other game and not necessarily a horror one. P.T. was a very special experience whether you consider it a game or not.

elsuperamigo1205d ago

I vote for pt too, everything else is trash

Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly

Silly Mammo1205d ago

Silent Hill. I know Silent Hill 2 was suppose to be scarier, but the 1st game freaked me out enough that I didn't play any of the others.

Resident evil 3. Nemesis chasing you through out the game is a harrowing experience.

Agent20091205d ago

Take your head out of that nostalgic anus. Resident Evil games are not scary by any means.

Why o why1205d ago

Those games were scary because of the dodgy controls. . .You knew escaping danger was hard. . That for me made it scary. Not even kidding ya

zsquaresoff1205d ago

If you can't take an individual opinion, it's you who needs to remove your head out of your rear.

scark921205d ago

Nemesis chasing you is pure survival horror!

Omnisonne1205d ago

Amnesia: The dark descent, but i see the upcoming Silent Hills as a serious contender, should it be similar to P.T

Outlast was good too btw

chrissx1205d ago

Resident evil 3 for me. I had mini heart attacks just because of nemesis's constant chase throughout

Concertoine1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

Fatal Frame 3. The first person crawling parts and the parts in your house are terrifying. The whole series is pretty scary though.

I would also say Silent Hill 3 was scary.

The RE series has never scared me, it just makes me anxious. Its kind of weird because when RE is scary, its damn scary. I think we all know what enemy from RE4 im referring to.

FullmetalRoyale1205d ago (Edited 1205d ago )

RE gives me more of a thriller vibe, rather than horror. So I think you are spot on with that. Quite honestly I cannot handle horror very well.

Allow me to paint you a picture: I am 6'1, two hundred pounds, and I have thirteen tattoos. I played Outlast while in a party chat with my thirty-three year old best friend.

I straight up screamed. I screamed so loud and so long that I was able to hold it out and make it sound like it was a fake scream. So embarrassing, but admittedly hilarious.

RE4 specifically(same with 1&2) had me very tense, and gave me "oh sh" moments. That's what I am hoping for from The Evil Within.

I have it completely paid off and will get it regardless of reviews. I really enjoy his work, and I think it looks beyond what I can usually handle. But I'm gonna do it!

BlackTar1871205d ago

I found Fatal Frame 2 to be the scariest of the fatal frame games.
