DriveClub Reaches New Level of Cheesiness with Fresh TV Ad

Obviously “The DriveClub Oath” is supposed to be over-the-top, right? Sony and Evolution aren’t expecting us to shed blood in honor of our team of online miscreants. Do they truly believe that we’ll place our Club over our interpersonal relationships?

Wait, it's that chef bloke off Eastenders who looks like Kratos

Eonjay1326d ago

Well, that escalated quickly.

Very weak ad, the game deserves better trailers.

Hellsvacancy1326d ago (Edited 1326d ago )

Agreed it was very weak trailer, where is the gameplay? that should be the main selling point in a trailer, not some random tv actors bouncing about

WeAreLegion1326d ago

The parts with gameplay are where the gameplay is.

DigitalRaptor1326d ago (Edited 1326d ago )

Not really. DriveClub is and always has been about the people.

"Together" delivers a clear message about the focus. Just like some of the better PlayStation trailers in the past, this one delivers a message about what kind of game DriveClub is: social racer that keeps you connected wherever you are.

There's no doubt that this ad will resonate somewhat among UK consumers, which is where it will be targeted.

TheBrownBandito1325d ago (Edited 1325d ago )

Why is it when people fail with inference, they immediately proceed to demean the subject? It is obviously self satirical, made by gamers about gamers and made me chuckle at least.

That PS1 ad is a marketing classic.

mushroomwig1326d ago

It kind of reminds me of this old PlayStation ad

FsterThnFTL1326d ago

No wonder the PS3 struggled early last gen. With creepy Ads like this one people don't want to be associated with your product.

mushroomwig1326d ago

This was a playstation 1 ad and it's considered one of the favourites.

DigitalRaptor1326d ago (Edited 1326d ago )

Wow, quick to downplay there, Mr. Negative.

That advert is from 1999 as part of the PS1 campaign that helped PlayStation reach its now juggernaut status, and is considered one of the best. Nothing creepy about it, unless you think regular people talking about their hobby is creepy. These kind of ads speak to the people, particularly Brits.

what do you expect? the 360 might have been his 1st console.

IRetrouk1326d ago

The ps3 never stuggled, it sold more per year than the 360 did from launch. There was one year the 360 sold more ww and that was in 09 or 10. The only thing that the playstation 3 struggled with was the press, and even that didnt stop them.

I've never seen that. That was strange. I miss Kevin Butler.

WeAreLegion1326d ago

Not bad. Though I don't think it's that cheesy.
