Ghosts and goblins is so much fun I hardly noticed that it was hard and I died a billion times. Also having great music helps. I don't mind dying lots when the song resets and I can just jam to the beats over again.

Mega Man games aren't actually that tough once you get used to the traps that keep recurring in them. Vets know to "look before you leap" and to incorporate things like knockback into strats.

Simon's Quest was just badly translated. The Japanese text did a lot more in explaining things due to the hardware limitations at the time (Zelda 2 was the same way).

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos is Waaaay more difficult than any of the 3D incarnations. I think I made it to level 5 once ...

This could have been a good and respectable list if they didn't have the word stupidly in it.

hmm the original US version of Devil My Cry 3 was one of the hardest games I've played in terms of real difficultly . Most people I know didn't play it till the easier special edition.
