I never played a Suikoden game, sadly, i need to fix that somehow.

I have Suikoden 1 on my PSP I still need to play, and also finish Suikoden Teirkries....

I wish they would re-release a HD package of Suikoden 1-5 + Suikoden Tactics for like $100.

No. Final Fantasy 6-10 cemented that title for the FF series. But, Suikoden is definitely one of the best.

Can't really go wrong with either of those. To me it's a tie between Suikoden and Shining Force. I absolutely loved both series'.

Edit: And to your other point kalkano, with the Indie scene growing to new heights, it would be great to see a spiritual successor to these series' through Kickstarter maybe.

Final Fantasy and Shining Force are my two favorite series'. Unfortunately, it would be an understatement to say I'm not real fond of the current state of either series.

Hover over my avatar with your mouse. I've felt that way for about a decade. And, it's really not a problem with those two companies; it's a problem with the whole industry.

Oh neat. I had no idea you could hover over someone's profile image and get a message/saying with it. Yea though I hear you on the state of those series and the industry, it's a bummer. Helpful bubble as well for the Avatar thing lol.

Just FF 6-10?

No love for the formers? I think FF IV is one of the best JRPGs ever.

Godmars2901165d ago

Unfortunately, FF has gone too far over the cinematic route. Suikoden was a better model for what JRPGs should have been.

kalkano1164d ago (Edited 1164d ago )

^ 1-5 are all good games. But, I think 6-10 are all MASTERPIECES.

Edit: This was supposed to be @NukaCola.

"It doesn't need AAA title style graphics, it just needs to be the Suikoden which we know and love."

I fully agree, but also want to add a word of caution. If there were a Suikoden revival, I think it would need to have a production value at least equal to the Playstation 2 games in the series, but in HD. It would basically be a mid-tier game, which the industry is BADLY missing.

I feel like anything less than that would be begging for failure.

For me Suikoden 2 is one of the best JRPG's I have ever played. Still waiting for it to come to PSN
