IGN compare the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Do you see any differences?
Looks nearly identical to me. With the lack of info for Xbox One version I was getting a bit worried but was all for nothing.
This comparison video is really compressed
In terms of sharpness: XBone- good PS4- Better PC- Best But overall, they all look nearly identical.
You're not going to tell how good they actually look running on a direct feed by looking at a 1-2mbps video. It just isn't going to happen. Why these sites don't give direct downloads to higher quality videos, I don't know. Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of comparing at all. At least with DF and the like, they give you statistical analysis with their highly compressed videos.
That's why these videos are usually useless, the video is too compressed to even notice the differences, small as they are. Looks like they all look similar enough to not really matter though. Still going for ps4 over xbone for higher res.
Keep this in mind... The video is compressed for us, which makes it hard to tell the difference. The individual writing the article hopefully saw direct feed when reporting, because their really isn't a way to properly report on the differences from this video.
The xbone version to me looks a bit blurry compared to the ps4, is there a rez difference because it looks like that. I have it on PC so I have no clue.
There is a resolution difference in that the PS4 version runs native 1080p; The One version does not. There's your difference. edit: It's really minute in the grand scheme of things, especially looking at this video and not being able to tell much of a difference.
If the Xbox rendering at 720p is true, there will be noticeable differences on a real Xbox One hooked up to a TV vs. a real PS4 hooked up to a TV... not a super compressed comparison that many people probably aren't even watching on 1080p screens. 720p is less than half the res of 1080p, and we saw what the difference looked like in COD: Ghosts.
Oh come on. I'll be the first to say that there definitely are going to be differences between the three versions, but you can't tell me that with such a low quality video you can notice much of anything to distinguish each version. These video comparisons are usually pretty pointless. When all three have the same art, same basic contrast and color balance, and the video is this compressed there is no way that you are going to be able to distinguish any significant difference.
Yes, it does appear to be a little blurrier to me also which I'm assuming is the resolution difference. It's visible to the naked eye, not something you need DF to confirm.
Jajajaja! That's the differences that PS4 fans are bragging about? Come on.....you have to be kidding me! The only way to justifice this nonsense is if you have a projector with a 150" screen.....if You have a 60" or less there isn't differences worth talking about.
Calm down, it's a multiplatform game and it also depends on whether the developer puts forth the effort or goes for parity on all (though PC gamers can push ahead obviously if they want.) Of course though its obvious what you're after...
What I am after? I'm just saying that I don't see a significant difference between them to buy one better than other. I have seen a lot of comments about this game......about how good will be on PS4 vs X One and when finally see the differences now you say: "calm down is a multipataform game" Why didn't you tell to all your compadres of PS4 to calm down when they did does claims? Now I have an agenda? I'm just glad that in multipataform games there isn't such a difference to be sad about. This gen will be defined by exclusives and until now I have enjoy more my XONE than you and all your compadres together because of fun games. I hope SONY understand soon that isn't just about graphics so I can buy my PS4 finally and you and your compadres can have some fun too.
This game does not even begin to ultilise a PCs power properly at all. The textures for all the VRAM they use are quite low resolution, they are just uncompressed which is why they take up so much VRAM. The game also has no AA method or option and does not allow for AA to be forced through the Nvidia control panel. This is not a good PC port so comparisons are fruitless when clearly the lead platform was PS4 by a mile. It runs great on high and looks pretty good in areas but horrible in others, ultimately though it chugs up PC performance with its demanding VRAM requirements so it was held back in that regard. Bring on the silent disagrees.
The AA method is down sampling. It will kill performance but it always looks much much nicer.
They do not use down sampling in game, there is no option for it. So many jaggies.
@ einheart In video options go above your native res. it will fix it
>This game does not even begin to ultilise a PCs power properly at all. And barely any games will, get ready for yet another gen of unoptimized console ports like always.
Its comments like this that make me wonder why pc is called master race?....no offence to you buddy, its just i see on n4g "master race" said so much and agree that pc get loads on shitty ports?. Look at ubisoft titles for example.
Great comparison video. One of the best I have seen. And it shows that the difference is barely noticeable, and only if you play the games side by side, pause the screen and look really close. The difference wouldn't even justify one game getting a 1/100 higher score. We have to face the fact that we are approaching peak GFX. Going from 1080p to 4k increases horsepower needs 4G and makes the game look <5% better. Lots of other things can make a difference though, like the number of opponents on screen in DR3, better AI and physics, and new play styles Like being able to verbally call timeouts or audibles in Madden.
Pc of course looks the best but the ps4 and xb1 are surprisingly close...what was all the fuzz about?
There you have it. LOL....I'm watching the video comparison on my 60 inch LG Plasma screen in 1080p & if I pause & look very closely, the PC version is a tad sharper, but TBH the xbox one & Ps4 versions look damn near identical. I don't know what the official res difference is but, fanboys fight over 1080p vs 900p & with the 900p upscaled via the hana chip in the xbox one, its very hard to tell any difference what so ever. I believe that MOST gamers probably own a tv that is under 60 inches. Probably the only way to notice a SLIGHT difference is if you play it on like an 80 inch screen. And even then, its so slight that it's not even worth arguing over. The resolution war is a joke & makes no sense. If you game on a 60 inch tv or lower, you won't see a difference. So why even argue about it? Makes no sense. It's like bragging about genital size when it's a half a centimeter bigger but no visible difference. Just plain stupidity. Not worth arguing over when it's that dang close. I don't know why Forza horizon 2 looks so dang good, but I know it's not just the resolution. Texture detail & art design is why (in my opinion) forza 2 horizon looks so dang pretty. So in one corner we have 1080p vs 900p up scaled by hardware to display 1080p and that's enough to brag about? Why brag about a difference that can't be seen by 99% of the gamers who have a 60 inch screen or smaller? And the gamers with an 80 inch screen has to pause the game and compare to notice any difference at all. Doesn't that sound silly? But that's what gamers are arguing over. Sunset Overdrive will be 900p up scaled by hardware to 1080p, but the texture detail & amount of action on the screen is insane. It will look spectacular. Getting it to 1080p is more demanding on the hardware, with basically no difference the eye can see, but yet 900p you can add more assets to make the game better. Dx12 will help with xbox one's frame rates drastically, which then means they can reaching 1080p won't be as much of a hit on the hardware. That's a win win, but while 1080p should be the standard for this gen, it still is a slight difference as the video's show. The smaller your gaming screen, the more impossible it is to see a difference. That's the way resolution works. I have a feeling that if we were to poll, most gamers (70%) game on a screen that is 50 inches or smaller. But yet we want to argue about about res differences that you can't see. If you claim to see a difference, you are lying to yourself. I did a blind test with my best friend who is a Sony hardcore ONLY gamer and it pissed him off that without seeing the logo for which game it was, he literally couldn't tell a difference. And the funny thing is a couple times he picked which one he thought was the PS4 & he was wrong. Now he is still a Sony gamer, but we don't argue no more about which looks better. He now understands that the resolution war is not a war worth fighting over. Graphics fidelity, texture detail & FPS are much more important. Lastly, that is why a ps3 game that is 1080p, doesn't look as good as a ps4 game that is 1080p. Same resolution, but all the other assets is what separates the versions. NOT THE RESOLUTION. Let the resolution war end & play the games you enjoy & respect the other console that you don't own. It's all about choice & playing what you want.
Yet another person who has no idea what they're talking about trying to justify their purchase. The X1 is weaker. Get over it. Doesn't mean it won't have great games. Now excuse me while I kill some urks on my PC.
http://www.gamespot.com/vid... LOL....believe what you'd like. Your eyes lie to you due to your bias. Gamespot just confirmed that both the xbox & ps4 versions are 1080p native. Which would explain whey they look exactly the same. LOL... I tell you fanboys are a trip. Like I said, the resolution war is over. Just play the games you enjoy on the console you enjoy. Simple
You're trying way too hard nextgen24. Maybe you should chill. Fighting bias with bias results in 0, lol If you stuck to the facts you'd notice that the disparities are still present and probably will be for a while at least. Enjoy your gaming regardless but cut the crap, please
Do you think any1 will read this essay of yours....
Pass me that you are smoking. :^)
Xbox One version is 1080peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... . Now what? http://www.gamespot.com/vid...
Isn't it funny that you get disagrees when the link you provided clearly states that the xbox one & ps4 versions are both 1080p. Sony fanboys just don't want to believe that it's possible. They bragged & bragged when the rumor was 720p for the xbox one version...The comparison video's all look like there is no difference & low & behold both versions are 1080p.
If they're both 1080p then why does the PS4 still look better? Ps this is genuine question, not a fanboy comment....what is the PS4 doing differently
Yeah...it's pretty hilarious...I love all the people in here saying how they can see a difference, and the PS4 version is better...LOL It's also hilarious that now we know the X1 runs at native 1080p and the videos show virtually zero difference between the the two consoles, this article isn't even on the first page...LOL
I'm quite happy the parity is as good as it is, 1080p on all 3, good job Monolith. PS4 and X1 are completely identical to me, with PC looking slightly better, overall a graphically impressing game. Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, 1080p on all 3 is confirmed by gamespot. go on their site and look at the comparison, it says the resolutions not even 10 seconds into the video. Enjoy your game folks!
What about frame rates? I remember reading rumors of the Xbox One running at a locked 30FPS and the PS4 version running at a variable 60FPS. It would be interesting to seen if that's true or not.
Playing through it on PC atm. Awesome game anyway you look at it. Good fun, better then assassins creed as well, lol.
Definitely can tell the difference between the Xbox One and the other 2 systems and its not favorable. The PC is noticeably better looking than the PS4 but not by much...... that said..... That still doesn't bode well for the PC version as it was running on a system that was using a Nvidia 780ti GPU which is over $500 "not" including the CPU. Goes to show how unoptimized the PC version is. I doubt this game would run as well on a $400 PC compared to the PS4 and the XBox One. This demo/video poorly reflects the benefits of PC gaming as well as the developers respect for PC gamers. This game should of looked a hell of a lot better than the it did in this video..... especially for the price a PC gamer paid for a better gaming experience. you could by PS4 and a Xbox One and probably still be cheaper than the PC they were running the game on..... This video favors the consoles, especially in the price-to-performance ratio, even though the PC version was the better of the three.... Peace.....
You cant really compare anything properly on a youtube video. Oh well, I thought it was a yt vid.
Lol xbox one version is 1080p 30fps and guess what so is ps4. Gamespot has confirmed..... I phoned up my local Game shop to ask the resolution for both consoles as I own both and want to have the best experience. I was told by Game that they did not know the resolution for xbox one but the ps4 version suffered from frame rate issues.
dont you look silly now lying and all http://n4g.com/news/1598475...
DF said they're putting up an analysis tomorrow, I'd say if you're really still concerned that'll be your best bet. They at least tell you the facts instead of showing a compressed video comparison. I have it for ps4 and a friend of mine has it for xbox one, it's really close but overall I noticed more jaggies in the XBO version and slightly better performance on the PS4. Regardless which platform you choose you won't be disappointed, it's a real good game.
I play on PC with a Xbox controller, guess what? console experience, better graphics and much more.
