Am I The Only One Upset At First Person ‘Silent Hills’?

OnlySP: Okay, granted there is still the slim possibility that P.T. isn’t representative of the final product. It’s also possible that the TGS trailer is just a trailer, not meant to represent gameplay. So far though, all indications are that Silent Hills is going to be a first person fearfest.

I doubt the actual game will be a first person game. Would change the whole dynamic of all previous Silent Hills. It was a brilliant demo, but I would be hard pressed to believe that is anything indicative of what the final game will look like. It was a teaser created to hide the true pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, which was a quick tease at a new Silent Hill game.

I wouldn't mind a first person silent hill

jrshankill1370d ago

I thought first person was a good idea. I felt immersed. I felt a lot more lonely without seeing my character in 3rd person.

Scared the s**t out of me too. Can't wait for the full release.

Kojima said he is going to use both, but seems like he is leaning more towards 3rd person. He still wants to do something with FP.

conjurdevil1371d ago

Due to the fact jump scares are far better in First Person and thats what he is going for.

Yea, but I hope the game is not full of jump scares. I always liked SH for its atmosphere and subtlety.

Silent Hill 4: The Room did the 1st and 3rd person thing and it did it great if you ask me.

UltraNova1370d ago (Edited 1370d ago )

Yep I loved that game...being locked in that room all the time while the hole to hell was your only exit...damn it was disturbing..the PT demo was very reminiscent if SH 4 !

Wait and see how it turns out, jump scares are more effective in an FPS but gameplay excels in TPS so why not have a hybrid?

jc485731371d ago

I'm pretty sure we will get some hybrid. Just look at how MGS turned out. I also don't like the fact that people are ignoring how amazing the first SH games were, which didn't rely on FP to creep in.

Is that it really doesnt represent a Silent Hill game that much.

George Sears1371d ago

In all honesty though there really wasn't that many jump scare moments in P.T. The only jump scare moment was when the girls face showed on the opened bathroom door. Kojima seems to be aiming at a more psychological horror as far as P.T. goes.

jrshankill1370d ago

Um, the corridor when the sexy bird jumps out and starts chewing your neck.. thought that was a bit of a jump scare

dreamed1370d ago

You didnt see her at the top of the stairs then,or get grabbed by her either by the sound of it?
