Euclideon has broken its silence and released a new video, claiming that its engine will revolutionize video-game graphics, and that two games are currently under development.
THEY'RE BACK! Also, that whole "surprise" didn't surprise me. I could tell right away those were video game graphics because I'm not blind
Yeah, but you have to admit they're damn good. Nothing else looks that good. Then again, nothing ever came of their technology last generation, so let's see if this new technology actually makes it into videogames this time. BTW this kind of reminds me of the photogrammetry technology that The Astronauts developers used to make The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Cool stuff.
Minute 1:25, there is a floatin cross. Before that, yes, I was thinking it was real life video with some tiny frame rates due to the internet.
I can't wait to play real life!
I'd like to see this without horrible youtube compression because at the end of the video, the outdoor "nature" scenes were actually quite impressive. Of course the BS about us not being able to tell the difference was just that, BS. I think this technology does have potential though, especially if it allows game developers to greatly cut back on content creation from scratch.
I have no idea why this is covered in gaming sites. Euclideon make visualisation software for laser-scanning. Their clients are governments, mapping companies, construction companies. Here's a video of what they actually do - https://www.youtube.com/wat... The reason it's unsuitable for games is that it doesn't handle lighting or animation.
In the video it is stated that they are launching a gaming division in 2015.
