The Sony PlayStation Vita is successor to the PSP, the portable console has been doing poorly since its launch in 2011 and 2012. In this article I will be discussing why the handheld device should be selling in far greater quantities.
It's an awesome device. Games don't appeal to you, don't buy it.
Soul Sacrifice is the only reason i needed, everything else is a bonus.
It's a great device but the marketing is dead for it and so is 3rd party support from big developers. Actually 1st party support is almost dead too. I think it had a bad name choice just like the wii u.
Japanese 3rd party devs are showering the vita non-stop
but only the smaller ones, I like Idea factory and NISA but would like some support from Square, Capcom, Konami ect
Yeah in Japan but in the rest of the world almost none of those games will ever see a release anywhere else, hence the reason Vita is dying out everywhere else. Only thing that could have possibly gotten the Vita more sells/popularity in other counties (since Sony has abandoned it for the most part everywhere but Japan) is a Minecraft PS Vita bundle but now that Minecraft is Microsoft's new pet that's never going to happen.
"The PlayStation 4 isn't selling in Japan currently because there is lack of appealing games to the Japanese audience." That same argument can be applied to the PS Vita though it's reversed. The PS Vita sells well in Japan, but it doesn't sell well in the West. The reason why is because it doesn't have games that appeal to western audiences. This is the only "REAL" issue with the PS Vita. Outside of Indies what type of western support does it have? Not much, I must say.
phones are the reason it doesn't sale in America my children want phones and will play those games.
Than why does the 3DS sell so well? Stop blaming the phones.
I see what you're saying, but what about the 3DS then? There's no western support at all on that device either and it's selling like hot cakes. I think it's simply because of two things, 1. It's cheaper, 2. Marketing and brand recognition.
Mario kart, smash bros, pokemon. None of that on phones or vita, much stronger brand. I prefer my vita though, but it foes need more huge ip's to maximise its potential.
Nintendo's IP's are universally accepted that is why the 3DS doesn't need western support to sell well.
the thing is that 3DS has support from Capcom, Square-Enix, Level 5 and the like which are more mainstream than the guys that support vita, the likes of Nippon Ichi, Idea Factory and Gust whose games tend to feature sexualized imagery of underage girls who puts lots of westerners off
the western support for 3DS is literally non-existent. All the top selling games in the west are either developed or published by Nintendo. Most 3DS gamers simply ignore the games that haven't been developed by Nintendo. The western support Vita has trough indie developers is actually something unheard off for handheld consoles, which might make or break the system in the west. Sony just has to make it sure that porting a game from PS4 to Vita is as easy as possible so that developers can just target both platforms if nothing else then just for the better publicity (cross-buy/play/save)
wrong. The top selling non develop or published Nintendo games on eshop some are Rune Factory 4 Shin Megami Tensei IV Code of Princess Conception II Etrian Odyssey IV Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked Etrian Odyssey Untold Project x Zone Harvest Moon 3D: The Tale of Two Towns Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate Senran Kagura Burst Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Super Street Fighter IV 3D Ace Attorney Dual Destiny Cooking Mama 5 Scribblenauts Unlimited Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call Zero Escape Virtue's Last Reward Resident Evil Revelations Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D One Piece Unlimited World Red Steamworld Dig Shovel Knight Azure Strike Gunvolt Gunman Clive EDGE BLAZBLUE -Clonephantasma- Cave Story Retro City Rampage DX Moon Chronicles Unchained Blades Crimesom Shrounds Nano Assault Mighty Switch Force
^^^^ That list consists mostly of shovelware, was that suppose to make people jealous ? Stick to listing Nintendo first party games because 80% of the 3rd party games on the 3DS look like shit and play like shit.
Neither of these may not be 100% accurate, but still accurate enough to prove a point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...
All I need is one reason jrpgs.
I couldn't miss out on golden abyss but as a once proud vita owner I gotta admit they haven't put out much incentive to buy it.
The vita is still awesome, but I think it depends on your taste of games. For me, I love it because I get quality unique games like Danganranpa 1 + 2., virtues last reward, soul sacrifice, persona 4, etc. I like japanese games especially JRPGs, so my back catalog I have yet to play are the Disgaea series, Ys series, tales series, and more. But seeing what the device is capable of with Golden Abyss, gravity rush, mortal kombat and the MGS collection, it's a shame this thing didn't take off.
From the hardware perspective, it is a wonderful device. I thoroughly enjoyed the PS Vita for the first year and s half. Unfortunately after that I simply didn't see enough games that appealed to me. Seeing the heavy hitters on the 3DS, I mostly enjoy RPGs, I simply couldn't ignore the Nintendo' handheld. Now that I have PS4 I kind of feel little let dowm that I don't own my Vita but I'm still waiting for that must have game only on the Vita. Back in the PSP days, Crisis Core was that push that I went and got the handheld for. I'm still waiting for the similar game on the Vita.
If you enjoy RPGs then hurry up and buy a vita lol
I left mine on a plane :(
One of my favourite things about it is the PS1 classics. That alone makes it awesome.
It's an awesome system that deserves recognition, we can't have another Dreamcast situation again, Sony needs to do something ASAP.
One reason: Playstation Plus. I have more than 50 games without buying a single one (and i bought plus because ps3 but then i just bought a vita because Plus since i had so many games and i wanted to play them). So many that i can't dare to complain since didn't try even all that i wanted.
Had mine since Day 1 2012 launch. I mainly play NG 1 and 2, Uncharted, Killzone, PSP sidescrollers and shooters, and now that I have a 64gb card it is getting used to store movies. The tech behind it is amazing, and I understand many like rpgs, indie stuff, phone size games. I don't. I just wish Sony would support their platform if devs won't make the games that many of us want to play. I also have PS Plus, but most games I buy when they are released if they appeal to me so if they become free and I don't own them, then giving them to me free is not appealing, it is just more free junk I will never play.
Nope. Only three reason. PS+ PS1 and PSP Classic Japanese Games nothing else
I like how you treat Japanese games as if it should be one item, and do the same with the PS Classics. If that's not downplaying, I don't know what is. Try adding Persona, and The Show, and Ys, and Super Stardust, and Wipeout, and Dragon's Crown. Gravity Rush, Muramasa, FFX/X-2, Velocity 2X, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden. Oh, there's also remote play, and all the other features of the handheld. You know what? Why bother? You'll do your best to say how each of the games is boring or something. ANYTHING to make the system seem worthless, right?
Second reason. "the wonderful Persona 4 Golden."
Persona 4 the golden, Killzone:mercenary, Ys Celceta, uncharted golden abyss, gravity rush, wipe out, ffx and x-2, tearaway, unit 13, murasaki baby, lbp, dragons crown, super stardust delta, and also a ton of 3rd party games like dbz, sfxtekken, ng1 and 2, both rayman games and also the back catalogue of psp and ps games There's games for every genre so the people who say there's no games that interest them, what exactly are they looking for? Is it a genre that hasn't been made yet or are they just being ignorant? day one adopter hehe The list will expand to ps3 and ps4 games when ps now hits so this baby will be able to play pretty much games from every ps console made
