New gameplay footage of Gearbox’s MOBA / FPS Battleborn has surfaced on IGN. This “next-gen hero shooter” was announced back in July, and is looking mighty polished at this point with gorgeous character models and hectic co-op gameplay.

The graphics and art style look uninspired and the gameplay just as meh.

It is pretty boring. The announcer sounds like he's trying his best to get viewer excited but most of the things he said are pretty much what we would expect to see.

Have genre mashing reached it's peak? When Fallout 3 combined FPS with RPG elements, it was a breath of fresh air. Now, there's not much to get excited about.

The whole industry has been avoiding innovation and creativeness for some years already, but it seems to be changing...

I think it looks quite interesting. MOBA meets FPS isn't something I've ever heard about before. I also like how diverse the classes are. It could be a very unique and compelling competitive and co-op game.

You want uninspired? Play Destiny, although you probably already are.

I am playing Destiny I don't see it as uninspired for many reasons, I enjoy playing with friends and exploring the beautiful environments. This game just looks like its last gen, considering we will be well into current gen by the time it's released, I could've expected better, but we've obviously got different opinions on this one

5 player coop?

This will make a hell lot of fun!

the stages part really killed it for me :( i expected open world story like borderlands the stages part would be nice for competitive multiplayer but still would of loved an open world for the story side.

dodgemoose3505d ago (Edited 3505d ago )

Looking promising to me. Definitely going to keep an eye on it henceforth.

It at least deserved them moving it to a solo-able option post server shut-down, IMHO.

Agreed, that would have been the fair and decent thing to do.

Battleborn is Dead - The Need for Game Preservation in the Next Generation

William writes: "Battleborn was not the game I wanted it to be, it probably wasn't the game a number of you reading wanted it to be. But what it undeniably was was a game that a team of hundreds of people poured their hearts and souls into."

Game preservation is important.
Single-player campaign should always be offline. So that some part(s) of a certain game still lives through and can be enjoyed later.

Always Online games will always end up like this at some point. Offline SP campaign should ALWAYS be included.

Thinking that games ( and in particular this one ) will forever be lost, it makes me sad.

One of the funnier game i played with my friends. I like that one of the reason it failed is that it had many reviews like the one you did; criticizing the gameplay because it's 'too complex': because it had a skill tree and because there was different classes... My personal analysis of its failure is beacause of the Blizzard PR team: they saw a threat in it , and decided to kill it by paying professional reviews and counting on their fanboys to bash it and create a fake 'comparaison war' with it. The saddest thing is that this game will disappear forever. It casts, as others in the same situtation, a dark shadow on the future of video gaming. Hopefully there are and still will be 'pirates' to save and archive these for the future generations, that i hope will someday realize that consumerism is not the only solution.
