E.T "The Worst Game Ever Made" To Be Auctioned Off

Mike from The Games Cabin writes - "Earlier this year, hundreds of copies of arguably the worst game in existence were unearthed in a landfill site in New Mexico. A game that has had a large amount of stigma following it, due to many people claiming it was one of the major reasons Atari declined in the late 80's/early 90's"

Everyone sais this was the worst game ever made... I don't remember it that way. I remember it being one of the first games I ever finished and I actually enjoyed it. Of course I was only like 7 or 8 at the time, but still it wasn't that bad at all.

I was older and remember it sucking pretty hard.

Why... just why?? EWWW Home Alone on the SNES is up there as well.

sweendog1371d ago

Yeah and Time Cop SNES as well. I was at an age where if I could play a game based on a film I wanted to play it. (Star Wars Trilogy, Aliens and Jurassic Park were good) Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Mario were actually a lot better than the movies.

It is not the worst game ever made. I can easily name two dozen games on the same system that were much worse!

It is probably one of the biggest sales disappointments of all time. Of course it was when Atari made more E.T. carts than there were systems to play it on!! But biggest sales flop doesn't equal worst game.

Name 'em.

Go ahead. Name two dozen games worse than E.T.

I'll wait.

just limiting it to the Atari 2600:

Swordquest Earthworld
Swordquest Fireworld
2600 Donkey Kong (ughhhh)
2600 Donkey Kong Jr
2600 Pac Man (awful, just awful)
Spike's Peak (you think falling in holes in ET was frustrating??)
Haunted House (same basic premise as ET- find 3 pieces of an object, but less interesting game overall)
Custer's Revenge
Chase the Chuckwagon
Kool-Aid man
Laser Gates
Mr. Do 2600
Mr. Do!s Castle
Popeye 2600
Skyjinks (boring and repetative)
Zaxxon 2600
Frogs and Flies
Freeway (Cheap Frogger knock-off that isn't fun)
Barnstorming (another typical early Activision - amazing graphics for the time, boring game)
Journey Escape

Don't fall for it. Atari themselfs debunked the landfill myth years ago. These are no doubt all cloned carts.
