Review: RYSE: Son Of Rome Is A Stupidly Fun Romp But Fails To Conquer [EGMR]

Quote: "RYSE: Son of Rome is an entertaining romp but ultimately one with many, many flaws. Its visual fidelity, combat and captivating story will work well enough to keep you entertained, especially if you're a fan of wondrously crafted environments, brutal executions and Roman Empires, but the laundry list of issues might just as quickly turn you off if they're the kinds of things you hate. We recommend you wait for a price drop with this one. "

The story is too old to be commented.

Ha, did they forget to send this review out last year?? Maybe they accidentally sent this out, when they meant to send the article about FH2 demo (which launched this morning)... It's amazing BTW!!!

Do you simply like the sound of your fingers tapping at your keyboard, or . . . . ?

It seems like it should have some pretty fun co-op.

famoussasjohn1406d ago

I liked it in Co-Op. My buddy and I were having fun because we just got it for cheap at Best buy for $30 a few weeks ago..then Destiny came out.

SlapHappyJesus1406d ago

I'm interested in trying it out once it can be had around the $20 range.

That's how I feel about Drive Club, Knack, & Infamous, $20 Indie Games.

SlapHappyJesus1405d ago

How come those all happen to be Sony exclusives? Aside from Drive Club, which is also coming to PC.

I'm getting it day one on PC. I played a bit at a friend's house and I found it to be a pretty fun game. The story also seemed interesting to me. And needless to say it looks amazing.

My friend and most other people I have talked to seem to think it was a good game and somewhat underrated by the critics.

I'd like to get reviews based solely on the port, itself, instead of the quality of the content. I already know what I'm getting into with Ryse, but is it worth a second look on PC?

MRMagoo1231406d ago (Edited 1406d ago )

I can imagine it's the same game but with a stable framerate over 20 and better looking, nothing is being added so it's the same boring as grass growing game. I guess it depends if you can do that to yourself again and why.

starchild1405d ago

Don't you have some Sony games to overhype in some other articles? Why do you have to troll PC and Xbox articles all the time? It's obvious you dislike those platforms.

It's funny people like you will bash the hell out of games like Ryse and act like they are horrible, but you'll turn around and hype whatever the next random Sony exclusive is, even if it's pretty average according to the reviews.

In other words, if the reviews are average and it's a Sony exclusive all we'll hear from people like you is how the reviews are wrong and how the media is biased, but if it is an Xbox or PC exclusive and it gets average reviews suddenly it's a horrible game and we'd be better off watching paint dry or grass grow.

Most people I've talked to that have played Ryse for themselves have said they thought it was an enjoyable game. Or go read the user reviews on amazon or metacritic for that matter. Even with all the trolling that goes on in user reviews the majority of the reviews for Ryse are pretty positive.

I have yet to troll a pc article once, I have worked building pcs for over 10 years and it is my main gaming platform, maybe go read my history from 2007 onwards on this site and see how much BS you speak, welcome to ignore starchild (what a relevant name btw)

Very late to the party lol.

Neixus1406d ago

Probably meant for the new players before the PC version arrives

Hammtweezy2192 1405d ago

Ya I can understand that if it were the upgraded PC version but it's still the Xone review.
