Could Tier Lists Be a Bad Thing?

As far back as GamersFTW can remember we’ve always been a gamer and even as a child we've felt most at home on fighting games. Still to this day we’d put them as my favourite genre. Perhaps it’s the competitive element and the arcade scene of our youth or maybe it’s that they’re an easy thing to pick up but a hard one to master. This has no doubt helped hugely by the group of friends we used to hang out with during our teenage years being as madly into the genre as we were.

Yes, I always find some of the lowest tiered chars to be way better than you'd think. Like Oro from Sf3 for instance, that was basically my main, and I went to work with him against great players using top tier chars. Same goes for Hugo of Sf3. They need to work out the tiers better at the very least.

match ups matter sure but im with you tier list are counterproductive. and with games like smash where its been proven with characters like peach and jigglypuff that tier list arent always helpful i just dont see the point of em. if you master your character then you should do fine against anyone on the roster

It's basically just a built in excuse for people who lose a match.

Then they can say they lost because somebody used a better character, and not just because they lost.

If my 3 favorite characters end up being bottom Tier.....I'm still using them.

ive been saying this for years....YES TIER LIST FOR THE MOST PART ARE BAD...it ruins tournaments and discourages people from trying to master lesser known or unique characters.

Yes. F#*$ the tier lists and the uber hardcore smash community altogether. They take the fun out of everything and are so hung up on Melee that nothing will ever touch it.

I dont see the issue with them , it's intel , it's uup to people to use it well and not be overwhelmed by it . Some People are just dont understand the purpose of tier list , even more so with a game like Smash bros . It's not telling anyone that a character is crap , or that you'll be godly with a top tier character (unless the game is very bad at it , wich happens , even among some games i'd rather not discuss) ...

It's just a baseline of strength and weaknesses , overall . And ultimately the rationale behind it and the characters differences , could only 100% apply in a match between two skills players of the exact same level of mastery . Not two bits nobodies like most of us

It's also something you can literally throw back at some jerk complaining about his character not being good enough , when it's obviously the player that's bad , or choose something that doesnt fit his playstyle .

And yeah obviously Tier list will evolve , not solely with patches or not versions , but the more knowledge and tech from the games appears .

You guys can remove tier lists all you want , you'll still left with some people picking what's popular or appears to win the most

TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Well, this is neat. As the name suggests, Wrath of the Mutants is the rarest of things – a genuine arcade conversion. With most modern arcade games being ticket redemption machines, this is something seldom seen. In fact, the last arcade conversion we can recall was Raw Thrill’s own Cruis’n’ Blast on Switch back in 2021. This is also based on an older iteration of TMNT, harking back to the series from 2012-2017. It’s essentially breaking franchise continuity (we’ve had two different iterations of the Turtles since) and could even be considered nostalgic for a select few – those who grew up with 2012’s Turtles are probably in their late teens."
