Destiny Dev: It Was "Liberating" to Move on From Halo

Moving on from Halo to Destiny was a "liberating" experience for Bungie, according to community manager David "Deej" Dague. Speaking with USA Today, Dague said the studio won't soon forget about its Halo days, but stressed that shifting to a new franchise was an important move for the company.

Yeah it is a little funny they are considering it liberating to have moved on from what is universally held as the best console FPS franchise, and instead created a soulless 6/10 repetitive shooter lol. Congrats to you guys if you love it. After that stinker game Reach I'm glad you passed the torch onto a more capable studio.

might be a problem in the future though. I'm having a decent time playing Destiny, but you didn't convince me to keep playing. I don't see a Destiny 2 in my future - hope that 500M was worth it Activision. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

That bad game is worth 40 bucks trade at Gamestop before 10/08/14 after that will most like drop to part FH2 & middle earth come out in 2 weeks.

Being forced to make the same game every year makes for a bad situation. Being free to make what they want should be liberating. Microsoft probably could have had this game too. I am with you, I find it boring, but just as many people, like me, consider Halo just as boring.

Edit: Why do you think Peter Molyneux also left? He was forced to keep making Fable. Also why did most of Rare's original talent leave?

Phil is changing things, but for Bungie and Peter it is too late.

Too bad they just entered another contract to make another series for even longer then, huh?

I mean most will agree Halo peaked at its first two installments and sort of fell off from there in terms of the Bungie games. Destiny is coming out the door decent at best, and they still have a decade of content ahead of them.

Hopefully they'll take any criticism to heart and make the next Destiny a winner.

It's honestly be sad to think that someone would be in such an industry that brought us awesome innovative games and experiences like Okami but people would much rather have them Die making iteration after iteration of the same game then to do anything else ( i know you don't but that's how a lot of people against them moving on were acting like.)

I understand you I hope that the 500M for the franchise was worth it but I'm on the enjoying the game side of the spectrum, a great story would of helped a ton for a lot of the hate going around.

At the least I'm actually getting enjoyment from the game instead of running on leftover hype like i was with Halo 4. That Halo hype made me waist that money on the DLC and keep the game for way too long.

itll show in Destiny 2, its there first crack at it in a long time

The irony is that he felt liberated from halo by making a game that plays like halo.

HammadTheBeast1553d ago

Yeah, Im someone who came from the Halo 2 and 3 days, and this was almost back to what it used to be gameplay wise.

There was one, was cancelled years ago.

annoyedgamer1553d ago (Edited 1553d ago )

I think it morphed into Destiny and in a way I am glad it did not carry the Halo name. But 343 managed to tarnish Halo with Halo 4 and then spit on it with Spartan Princess Ops...

If they don't turn around their mess with Halo 5 the series will be on its last legs.

Dannyh1553d ago

Halo 4 was great, had the best single player of all the halo games

Yeah they should've stuck with Halo

GodGinrai1553d ago

Im glad they moved on. Halo is in the hands of a fantastic team. a team that by now, after remaking all the games knows the series, well. I can only imagine what halo5 multiplayer will be like after being honed by top MLG halo pros all this time.

Zero-One1553d ago

And continue driving that series to the ground?
