The midnight release of Super Smash Bros.for Nintendo 3DS rocked game sellers in Japan, especially Kyoto Yodabashi. The endless lines and swarming crowds harshly contrast the Xbox One's release just last week.
Who really thought the xbox one was really gonna do well in japan.
Truefan for one ....I remember xbox one Pre orders were number one in Japan and he was adamant this was microsoft's turn around in japan Go through his comment history you'll see.
Didn't he get banned? I haven't seen him in a while and his last few comments were marked for trolling.
A lot of peeps over at /r/xbone thought it would as well. I think Christlocus went around saying it was gonna save the Japanese industry as well.
I lost a bubble for making that same comment.
No one but I don't think anyone expected it to do this badly.
I was expecting it to do about as well as the 360 maybe a little less. But what happened was a lot worse than that. Shows that those reports of the system selling out (preorders) were quite misleading.
Indeed. That launch is one for the history books.
There's no surprise here. Japan has never been Xbox's place and Smash Bros is an absolute behemoth there... actually, let me rephrase that: Smash bros is an absolute behemoth everywhere.
This isn't surprising.
Xbone did horrendously in Japan. It probably did just as bad in all the other countries it released in lately.
Lets randomly compare one of Nintendo's biggest franchises to the Xbox one launch. What awful crap this site is.
It reminds me more of the PS4s launch than the Xbox Ones launch. http://img.gawkerassets.com... Those lines were pretty crazy for the PS4 and these lines look about the same for one of Nintendo's biggest franchises. Pretty interesting when you compare the three to each other. Normally games dont get crazy lines but this proves how incredible the demand is for Smash Brothers.
Games don't get crazy lines? Maybe where you live. Pretty much ever major release has a good sizes line where I live.
Microsoft should just leave Japan and focus on strong territories. Playstation is a stronger brand worldwide
I won't be rude to XBox fans, here. Instead, I'll just say that it's great to see Smash 3DS selling better than "certain people"*coughanalystscoug h* claimed it would.
Who is talking about the Xbox One? Why are we contrasting it with a Nintendo game? Makes no sense.
