Robert Downey Jr. has been rumoured to star as da Vinci in the new Assassin's Creed movie.
He'll definitely be bringing the personality to the film, haha.
So Da Vinci will most likely have a huge role in the movie , hmm not bad and i hope the story is good .
I can imagine, if they're using Downey, I expect the director would want to make full use of him.
what? last I heard the movie doesnt even take place in this location or even time period
Yeah, me too... Also heard there's been rewrites and directors dropping out, so who knows? The Prince of Persia movie was surprisingly good and had a cast of a calibre comparable to the likes of Fassbender and Downey-Jr (though it also had some legendary 'out-of-retirement' director, who's name escapes me). So... this film might not suck.
Well I thought it sucked lol, each to their own though. but out of retirement director?? Didnt Bruckheimer do PoP? The guy who did the Pirates films? Wouldnt really put PoP's cast at Fassbender and Downey jr level though, well except Kingsley. But yeah, enough about PoP, not a real fan of the AC games, dont like the gameplay, but I can easily see myself going to the cinema for this one if it turns out okay.
IMDB'd it, was Mike Newell directed Prince of Pesia and he's done a LOT of films, tv and whatnot since the 60's. Won a BAFTA...5certainly the best videogame movie ever made), however the cast and the production values were top-notch. I read the 'Forsaken' novel (Haytham Kenway's life story, taken from the pages of his journal), and it too was surprisingly good. Whilst I'm not holding my breath for the Assassin's film, there is potential for it to be something that compliments the games, in a manner similar to what they've achieved with the books, so yeah... It might not suck.
If the film turns out bad it won't be because of lack of faith to the material. Fassbender is the one that drove this project when it stalled and he had some things to say that at least sound promising. Lack of faith to source material is why video games are 'said' to make bad movies. Some producer spots a game and gets diollar signs in his eyes. He then proceeds to rip out everything about the game that made it unique and replace it with cut and past Hollywood crap. Then when the movie fails they point at the game and say, "These things just don't translate to the big screen." Idiots. Here is the quote from Fassbender: "You know, we absolutely want to respect the game. There's so much cool stuff in the game that we're actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can't, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game. But we're definitely making a feature film, and we're approaching it as a feature film, as opposed to approaching it as a video game. But I love the world. I don't really play that many video games, but when I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they started to explain this whole world and the idea of DNA memory - you know, I think it's a very feasible scientific theory. I just thought, 'This is so rich,' and about the possibility of it being this cinematic experience. So I'm really excited about it, and we're working very hard to make sure that we've got the best and most exciting, original package."
Please. Be. True.
Good news if true.
Wow , how much will ROBERT get paid, to play the role ? 40 million ?
They said the movie is based around the Spanish inquisition so it won't be based around Ac2.
