Mike from Twinfinite writes, "Destiny's success was quite honestly never really in doubt and it doesn’t have much to do with whether or not the game was any good. Here are some reasons why Destiny went through the roof."
The marketing push and the beta is what made the game successful. Yea it isn't the best "next Gen" experience but that doesn't mean it isn't a fun addicting game.
The hype for this game just seemed so artificial. Gaming sites have been hyping it left and right but I've never actually felt the excitement for this game in the community. It's almost like gaming websites TOLD people to get hyped about this game, rather than reporting the fact that people were hyped.
Well, there really wasn't a lot of "hype" until Titanfall came and went. The alpha and beta that were open to a lot of players really fueled the hype. I personally was hoping for one part Mass Effect, one part Boarderlands, one part Halo mixed in with some MMO stuff. That would have been pretty damn ambitious and "next-gen." Instead, we got a rock solid FPS with some rpg elements (more illusion than real customization). Its a fine game and I am enjoying my time with it, but it does feel parts were in place for it to be so much more.
And here is four reasons that make it suck.3 player fireteams,PvP,Game freezing with a loading screen and level-cap in less than 20 hours.
