Can Dead Island still be called Dead Island if it isn't set on an island any more? Seems like a liberal use of poetic license if you ask me, but at least new development studio Yager is taking the Dead part in the title to heart.
So Yager went from 2 player co-op to 8 player co-op by using the Cloud. The more the merrier when it comes to killing zombies.
Except it's 8 players on both consoles http://www.ign.com/videos/2... That being said, this game is looking more and more like Dead Rising than Dead Island, and not only that it seems like it's trumping everything Dead Rising tried to do. It look MUCH BETTER, it has 8 player co-op, it's as they describe it "the smallest open world MMO", and it looks fun. I was completely disappointed by the other Dead Island games, but the tone in this one sales the game. I don't like that there's no real story or end to the game, but that seems to be a trend for these new open world games. Looking forward to seeing more.
Well, The original dead Island and Rip tide were four player co-op. Eight player Co-op is not exactly new either. Resistance 2 on PS3 had an excellent eight player co-op. I'm not sure what the 'cloud' has to do with this at all to be honest seeing as it's eight player co-op on both consoles. Still, this along with Dying light should keep me happy early next year when they are both released.
yet it will be on ps4 and have the same headcount.........dumb article is dumb.
You dumb for blaming the artical. Its the developer who said this. This artical is the middle man lol ;p
The author didn't bother to ask about the implications of the statement. This is poor journalism.
Which means we only have half of the story from a console-centric site about a multiplatform title. A story which would become worthless once all the info is in, if co-op on the PS4 is less, but by the time such is known this article will have been forgotten.
So...either: 1) The cloud is necessary for the XBO to keep up with the PS4 version. /or/ 2) The PS4 version will have less players in co-op. Which is it?
Time will tell. but there properly both the same.
According to an IGN article, which is either PS4-only or multi in reference, 8-player co-op is standard to both platforms. http://www.ign.com/games/de...
Great. Thanks for the link! Helpful bubble.
Every one knows the Cloud is an old Apple 2 GS hooked to the Internet with a 2400 baud modem. This HARDLY makes up for the 4,000,000x power difference between the PS4 and Xbone. X BOX version will be 22p and run at 2 fps.
As a Xbox one fan; That shit is funny one bubble.
Another idiotic post. smh
Is this cloud on the xbox one cloud gaming or is it something else?
Told you guys the more time goes by people will see the x box 1 is a true next gen machine. Sony might have 8 player or 2 player the devs would have to judge it is worth it on PSN because Sony doesn't offer dedicated server support and might be a laggy mess.
Pretty much every PS4 game has dedicated servers, they aren't exclusive to Xbox One. Microsoft provides them for free, while on PS4 you have to host your own- something that many devs/pubs were already doing last gen anyway. Microsoft providing free servers on Xbox One has changed absolutely nothing. And this Cloud talk means nothing as well. 8 player coop was only possible because of the magical Cloud, yet the PS4 version features 8 player coop using no Cloud tech whatsoever.
The Ps4 has 8 player too, does that make it an even more next gen machine? considering it has other hardware advantages as well?
I wonder if there will be less zombies on the screen for PS4 version if indeed it is a 8 player CO-op.
Why would there be? The PS4 is a faster machine, that is a fact. Cloud isn't needed on PS4 because all the necessary power is already there to use.
More things happening at once is made possible by CPU and ram. Both of which are about the same on ps4 and xbox one
The RAM in the PS4 is faster, that is a fact. The theoretical bandwidth of DDR3+ESRAM is extremely hard to achieve in real world scenarios. And the GPU still plays a big part in visual/visible assets.
