Brawl gets 10/10 - "Now entering: Nintendo fan boy heaven"

Gameplayer has gone live with a review of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii just prior to its PAL release date. The unanimously praise the direction the series has taken and call it a must-by release.

"The coolest gameplay addition, however, is that every character has a signature finishing move called a 'Final Smash'. To activate one of these you'll have to nab a 'Smash Ball' item and then you can unleash hell upon your unfortunate enemies. While it's possible to evade some of the Final Smashes; most of the time their area of effect can take up an insane amount of the playing field and copping a slight hit by one will mean an all expenses paid trip to the horizon."

Daver5785d ago

I rented a wii to try out this game and iv'been really dissapointed, i didnt have fun with it, yous just press 2 buttons and thats about it..
Thats my opinion, and some apparently liked it (10/10 from this review)

You will have to try it if you want to know if you like it

BrotherNick5785d ago

Obviously you don't understand combos. :P

its a great game. if you played any in the past brawl is fine tuned in most areas. smash bros is a game that any one can play and play and play and still get better. in my opinion they are the most exciting fighting games by a long shot even if you arent a big nintendo fan. give it a shot!

ChampIDC5785d ago

It definitely opens up even more to the casual players, and the last 2 games already did that to great extent. Yet, the game still keeps a more technical in-depth side that the hardcore fans always manage to create. If only I owned a Wii...

Bad company on the 26th and brawl on the 25th its gonna be a busy month!

i expect nothing but brilliance since 64 and melee where awesome

SlappingOysters5785d ago

i hated melee. 64 was one of my most played games ever though. Nintendo had the perfect balance and then overcomplicated it.

I hope Brawl is more like the orginal in this way - sounds like it is though!

Alexander Roy5785d ago

Brawl? Never heard of it.

Oh... wait, is that the game the PAL territories got screwed over with? Mario Kart Wii my ass. How long has the game been out in the US? Almost four months? I was so hyped for this game, even though I didn't like the roster, but when I saw the release dates... boy am I pissed.

Nintendo of Europe = E P I C F A I L U R E

There should have been at least one Mick Gordon Killer Instinct theme on here.

Rebel_Scum670d ago

Should be some tunes from the first Mortal Kombat in any list tbh.

I really like the use of Mozart’s Dies Irae in Wolfgang Krausers stage in Fatal Fury 2.

Volcanic rim for Street Fighter 4 is probably my favorite stage theme

Having to do a thing three times would make my list as #1

Jeriphro855d ago

What do you mean? Like doing the same task three times in a row?

BrainSyphoned855d ago (Edited 855d ago )

Ya, find three items, kill three mini bosses, go to three dungeons. Things of three is a tired video game sweet spot number.

For me, it's collect-a-thons. They weren't fun in Donkey Kong or Banjo and Kazooie and they still aren't fun now. Why create these wonderfully oversized, detailed worlds if you are going to just supplement gameplay with ambiguous item fetch-quests.

There are exceptions, of course, But by and large, it just shows laziness on the part of the developer.
Good article, by the way!

Jeriphro855d ago

Yeah. It is funny some of the design decisions made by developers. Another one that irks me is unskippable cutscenes, especially after you die after the cutscene and are forced to rewatch the unskippable cutscene AGAIN. I mean, who thinks that a great idea?! haha

jambola855d ago

how about not allowing cutscene skipping
that's flat out inexcusable in any game in the last 10 years
