Scientists discover Metal Gear's OILIX

According to an article at The Times Online, scientists have created a bacteria that eats waste such as wood chips and wheat straw, and excretes petrol. Despite having already used the bacteria to create petrol in the lab, they are unsure about how large scale production would work.

This is very similar to Dr. Kio Marv's OILIX, the oil producing algae from Metal Gear 2 : Solid Snake, Kojima's second Metal Gear game from 1988, on the MSX.

Definitely adds incentive to things that are quite possible.
Curious what else may be a valuable asset for the future. (in good cause hopefully)
