A history of the M1 Garand and a cultural context within games.
m1 and m14 are my favorite rifles to use in FPS (when they have them)
I still vividly remember the M1 Garand from MOH: Allied Assault. Damn, fine weapon. Obligatory: "PING!"
The first CoD game I played through was 3 for the Wii, and for some reason you couldn't reload the M1 Grand in that version, you had to fire every shot first.
As a proud owner of an M1 Garand that was carried from England, to France, and into Germany during WW2 (an unknown soldier carved 8 locations in the barrel groove on the front of the buttstock)... i must say it is one incredible rifle. Accurate, reliable, and deadly. Just be quick pulling your thumb back when the bolt slams shut during reloading or you're in for a world of pain. hehe. It's pretty good in video games too!
i got my LTC just to own one of these rifles (im a military collector) as im looking to expand my collection to firearms. i dont have one yet but soon. only problem is i shoot rifles left handed. yourself being an owner i think you can come to conclusions on how that would have been a problem when the rifle was used in combat. the military actually taught the soldier to shoot right handed regardless. btw can you inbox me pictures of the stock carvings? im really curious
