Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Bros.....all these games are out this year on Wii U and give it an excellent game library. It's not just a great library though, its unique.
The first party line up on the Wii U is second to none. The issue a lot of people run into is you can't "just own a Wii U." The third party support has been bad and a lot of games like Call of Duty and Assassins Creed would be missed. I think a lot of people who own a Wii U will also end up owning either a PS4 and Xbox One to cover those third party games and the Wii U will become their second console. I love my Wii U, but I wouldn't be able to own just a Wii U.
I agreed 100% with U.
The Wii U is definitely a mandatory purchase as a 'side console' in that, you need either the PS4/X1 for the bigger third party/some first party titles but the Wii U's exclusives are unmatched. They really are very unique. Also, I've found that when my mates come round, we struggle to find games to play together on the X1/PS4. The Wii U is a PERFECT console for that old-skool social MP experience with Mario Kart and Super Mario 3D World.
yet u dont own a Wii U or want one pyro
PC is for third party games. Though I don't feel I'm missing much by not buying Call of Duty 74 and Assassin's Creed 22. Give those series a rest already! Sony has (well, will have) some decent exclusives for PS4. Microsoft has nothing I'm interested in until Halo or Gears of War. I really want a Wii U. I love my 3DS; Nintendo has an amazing track record with first party games.
Pc is not for third party games because some major third party games do not release on there.
@700p PC has it's own exclusives too you know. - Arma 3 - Total War Rome II - Star Citizen - Amnesia - Starcraft 2 - Company of Heroes 2 - Planetary Annihilation - ... just to name a few
Smash Brothers & Mario Kart 8 are as good as any games out there.....or smash will be I should say. They get Crapr 3rd party support and it's not their fault. If you can make a game for a crappy phone then you can make one for a Wii U.
Easily agreeable assessment
The problem is you can get away with a pc and wiiu combo and get everything on the ps4 and xbone. Then upgrade once nvidia does the tech refreshing this winter. Plus Oculus rift is going to smoke morpheus. Everyone knows sony will get some good games out in about a year or two or 3 in my case so that purchase can wait. You can't be a pc and wiiu combo right now and a ps4 later. Sony better not pull a vita support wise.
No way I will buy a console with almost no 3rd party support, besides most of their games are platformers or cater to Nintendo fans.
Megajon I can tell you this I have both the Wii U and PS4. They are great together, I wouldn't get rid of my Wii U for anything it is a great console. I use my ps4 for online gaming and Wii U for FUN games. I am 24 and I didn't have n64 or super nintendo so I really can't get enough mario they are fun. I love how the games are different and unique. https://twitter.com/Nintend...
You are definitely correct, though in my specific case I realize more and more that the majority of my library that I enjoy are made up from first party games and exclusives across the Wii U, PS4, X1, and PC. They all pretty much for a balanced ecosystem in my home where all have games I like and (especially this fall) all will get equal playing time (with some fluctuation caused by games like MCC and Smash)
Not yet..for me anyways either will get it when X comes out or Pokken fighter
I have a Wii U and a PS4. The Wii U gets no use now that I'm all Mario Kart'd out. Need some DLC to come out or it will sit until the new smash bros. Wii U will have a tough time competing though for playtime with the ps4 with NHL 15 and Destiny coming out. After that my Computer will get the love with Far Cry.
I'm in the same boat. Bayonetta 2 and Smash for me this year though. There's just nothing right now.
I really hope destiny doesn't suck game play wise. I was liking Titan fall but it just did not click and watch dogs was just boring. It's hyrule, Bayo 1 and 2 then smash while I beat a huge back log of xenoblade up to pikman and w101 along with donkey kong.
Is that a joke? With NHL 15 coming out? If you want to play realistic sports just go outside! or in your case a ice rink? Destiny I will be getting but on my wii u I am enjoying Armillo, old school gameboy advance games,I will be getting hyrule warriors and bayonetta before smash so there is plenty. The only thing I am using my ps4 now is minecraft until destiny.
"Is that a joke? With NHL 15 coming out? If you want to play realistic sports just go outside!" Do you really think you can compare the experiences of playing sport outsides to playing it on a gaming console? That is a joke. Just because someone prefer other games than yourself on a other platform doesn't mean you have to get all buthurt.
cannot wait for Bayonetta 2, loved the first one, this looks better in every aspect i said this a million time but i'll say it, the wiiu is a really great system to own besides a ps4, an x1 or a pc, i see it as a must buy from my point of view, one cannot live without nintendo games
As a sony fanboy im not afraid to say id love to have a wii u. Would buy it over xbone anyday for that nintendo nastalgia. Mario and zelda i miss you...
Go for it. I love my PS4/Wii U/PC combo.
Really happy with mine, great exclusives now and coming a lot of games, including a new Zelda and Star Fox, imagine a new Metroid too and the line-up will be perfect. Edit: also games like NSMB 2, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Wind Waker remake, Mario Kart 8, Sonic games, Donkey Kong and Zombie-U.
had my Wii-U for a while, ever since Nintendo got the rights to Fatal Frame. yes, that's the only game i'm waiting for. Zombie-U was a nice extra...
I'll buy one when there's both a new zelda and a new metroid...
I have a feeling the next metroid will be for 3DS.
Maybe last month was a good time. But now? Nintendo is retiring the 3DS after three years, and the 3DS was a huge success. Why buy a WiiU now when Nintendo is more likely than not to release a better model next year?
They're not. That would be a stupid decision, have you ever heard of the dsi? The "new" 3ds is basically the same concept. They've said it time and time again that they're going to support the WiiU for its entire lifespan, which is at least 5-6 years. Making a new console is what sega did and look where they are now. Nintendo's not going to make the same mistake.
How is the 3DS being retired? They are releasing a new model not unlike when the DSi was released or the Game Boy Color before it. Your not making any sense. How old are you? lmao
Its not analagous. New 3DS will have retail games that only it can play. For all intents and purposes it is Nintendo's next generation handheld.
@Sly-Lupin The Gameboy Color and DSi both had games that would only run on those handhelds and weren't backwards compatible, just like some games will be on the New 3DS. It's 100% analogous, it's the very definition of analogous.
This is the same reason I don't want a ps4 yet. The new over 4 teraflop gpus are coming and all of those ports will play better on my pc plus the online is free and doesn't break. Plus if we use your logic then the vita has been abandoned why would this not happen to the ps4? There are plenty of vitas out there what is sonys problem? Anyway there are games planned for a few more years and the api is still being updated so I don't think a new wiiu is coming. If it is it will be a handheld version.
"Wii U will likely not get a better year for games than 2014." 2015?!
I would only want one for Mario Kart. Or a good Mario Platformer game.
Super Mario 3D World is an amazing Mario platformer, and Mario Kart 8 is awesome!
With Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, SSB and Xenoblade Chronicles X, the Wii U for me is a must own console.
There are no good third party games out for Wii U though. Also still isn't enough first party to buy Wii U yet.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Zombi U, the Wii U port of Deus Ex: HR, Resident Evil Revelations, Lego City Undercover are all good third party games. Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 are good second party games. Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Windwaker HD, Nintendoland, NSMBU, Donkey Kong Country: TF, SM3DW, Hyrule Warriors, are all out or out soon. This isnt considering any downloadable titles of which there are a lot. Theres at least a solid dozen games worth owning, for someone with broad tastes easily more.
So I pay £300 for a Wii U for that many games you mentioned?!?! Deus Ex and Revelations I got on PS3, that's last gen with trophy's. Monster Hunter 3 I had for Wii and sorry my opinion but ZombiU sucks. Purchased Wii and Wii U release date. Sold Wii U three months later. "Are all* out soon" Yeah 2015! Most brilliant games but not out yet!!!
No, a lot more, too. Im not sure at what point you deem a console "worth it", but over a dozen retail games and a ton of online content is enough for me. If the console isnt for you thats unfortunate, but selling a console three months after launch is laughably knee-jerk. Hell buying a console at launch is something i would never do. Those games are last gen because those were the only platforms around when they released. My point isnt the Wii U is da best console evar, its that the statement "it has no good third party games" is hyperbolic or ignorant. Actually Hyrule Warriors is the only game i said that isnt out yet, and its out in a few weeks not 2015. Bayonetta 2 is in a month as well. Captain Toad, Xenoblade X, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Devil's Third, Yoshi's Wooly World, SMT x FE, Star Fox, Kirby, and Zelda are all next year in addition to whatevers unannounced.
2015! Why own one now then for the price it's going for and the amount of content it has at the moment?!.....
I own a Wii U only at the moment and I will get a Xbox One later down the road but will prob end up with a few 3rd party games worth playing for me on the xbox one system. I got burned with lack luster titles and hardly no reply value last gen. The this will prob end up the same again. Plus if Nintendo keeps this momentum going, the Wii U could end up neck in neck with Sony, if not even ahead.
