Microsoft: Leaked Concepts "May Or May Not" Be Real Products

Kotaku reports: "The recent weekend leak-fest, courtesy of marketing research company Intellisponse, yielded lots of possible upcoming Microsoft projects gleaned from surveys. There was the evidence suggesting that Mii-like avatars could be coming to Xbox Live, the rumored "Lips," a possible SingStar-type game, and word that a "social interactive" game show channel might be popping up on Live as well.

Don't assume, though, that these are bona-fide products: As the leaked info came from marketing surveys, it's possible Microsoft is simply testing some possibilities out, or evaluating audience reaction to certain concepts.

"We regularly test all kinds of concepts in market research with our Xbox community," said a Microsoft representative. "These may or may not be real products in development or ever be released to consumers."

The company declined to comment on the individual leaks or provide any specific confirmation or denial."

The story is too old to be commented.

Just like their OS', weak security. It seems like tradition now to have leaked MS E3 and event information. Way to blow your surprise factor guys. Hire some knee busting office cops.

am not really sure if this is a concept of a software or a hardware but i just wish from the bottom of my heart that after the real thing is out that i wont find out after a week that it's a piece of junk.

MS have just copied 3 concepts from Ninty/Sony.

1) Mii-like avatars (self explanatory where that came from)
2) Lips (Singstar rip-off)
3) Gameshow channel (A Buzz style rip-off)

Way to go!

Next thing we'll find out is that MS are planning a '3D Live marketplace' app for XBL to allow people to meet up and buy their own rooms/apartments and chat and what not...

They copied the PS controller and swapped the left stick for the D-pad and claimed it was original, they got in on the action with Apple (On both occasions! I know all about the 1st instance Mr Gates) now we have this. Do Microsoft ever come up with their own ideas?

Actually, in MS's defence there is one I can think of but not entirely sure if it's all their's, that's Surface.
