Assassin’s Creed Unity PS4 720p Resolution Mention on PSN Listing Is a Mistake, Ubisoft Clarifies

When Assassin’s Creed Unity was made available for pre-order on the PSN, the listing included (and still includes) a “720p HD Video Output” mention that sparked rumors that the game could be launched with that resolution on Sony’s console.

DualShockers received a clarification directly from Ubisoft stating that the listing is indeed a mistake.

that took a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng time to clarify. But yeah i know it wouldn't be 720p on PS4.

Abriael1200d ago (Edited 1200d ago )

yeah I sent em the mail like before Gamescom :D

But it's a busy time in the industry.

Xsilver1200d ago

So true thanks for helping clear things up.

nX1199d ago (Edited 1199d ago )

Still
a.) why did this even happen, who did this listing?? Even we customers knew it was 1080p because the devs confirmed it a while ago.
b.) No matter how busy it is, it shouldn't be a problem to check your mails. I'm getting around 100 mails a day and I still skim through all of them to see whether there are any urgent issues. If I'd work there and see something like that it would've been fixed in a matter of days, maybe hours. It's not a big thing to fix but it causes lots of confusion amongst customers so it should have priority.

Forn1199d ago

They don't want to list it as 1080p and have it not be like with Watch Dogs. Better to be listed lower and have it be higher than list it higher and have it be lower.

SuperBlur1199d ago

with the guy suing sony over resolution , a lot of devs are listing their games on the ps store as 720p

that took a while, and they still didn't clarify what the target res is, being months away from launch.

AndrewLB1199d ago

You guys seem to be missing something very important here. Nowhere did he say the game would be 1080p. He just said it would NOT be 720p. 900p anyone? If they want to run it at 1080p, they're going to have to dumb it down quite a bit from the PC version they've been showing at conventions.

AngelicIceDiamond1199d ago

They better hurry up and clarify before people go nuts.

Eonjay1199d ago

Too late, they went nuts a few weeks ago. Took them weeks to clarify.

Nearly 1000 degrees of FUD

Abriael1199d ago

To be honest, it was a pretty baseless rumor, which is why I didn't even bother reporting it back there. Thought I'd try to squash it instead :D

Eonjay1199d ago

@Abriael

+1 for decent investigative journalism.

imt5581199d ago

Ubisoft smashed MisterX's hopes. Too bad.

XtraTrstrL1199d ago

He says the 720p references the capacity output of the hardware. What hardware is he talking about?

Abriael1199d ago

No hardware, as it's a mistake.

CuddlyREDRUM1199d ago

It was PS4, as in that is why there was a big outcry about it.

KYPRIME1199d ago

he's talking about the standard resolutions that the ps4 can output for normal tvs, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

aerisbueller1199d ago

Yeah, doesn't make a lick of sense. How does he know what my TV can output? Also, who the hell speaks of resolution as a capacity of pixels?

@Abriael - I don't think so. He mentions the hardware in his correction, not the original text.

"That particular description isn’t talking about the game resolution – it references the capacity of the hardware output. As such, it was listed incorrectly and is currently being updated"

I don't get it at all.

Abriael1199d ago

He clearly says that it's a mistake.

There isn't anything else to get.
