Marcus Estrada writes: "When Jazz Jackrabbit launched in 1994 it gained a lot of PC gaming attention. Developed and published by Epic MegaGames (now known as simply Epic Games), a fandom quickly formed around the series. Original designer Cliff Bleszinski has long since moved onto other projects much to the dismay of fans. Enter a recently-launched Kickstarter campaign for Jazz Jackrabbit Revival. According to the page, Turbo Tech Games plans to create a brand new game in the series using the Unreal Engine and port it to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The page itself has some nice visual accompaniment and doesn't look inherently shady at first glance."
Marcus Estrada writes: "If you’ve read our two previous articles about DMCA and its effects on Kickstarter then you’re already well aware of what’s going on. However, neither of these posts focused on video game content specifically. Since we at Cliqist are gamers that’s exactly what this editorial is all about. Here you’ll read about specific examples of IP-infringing video game (or video game related) campaigns on Kickstarter. Not only that, but each example will also provide tips to help backers know when they might be lured in by a problematic campaign, as well as what prospective creators need to know before they ever launch their first project."
So a hockey mask and a machete suddenly belongs to Friday the 13th. Its a bit stupid tbh.
I remember reading the game is still in development so thats cool.
Greg Micek writes: "In an entirely unsuprising development, the Jazz Jackrabbit Revival Kickstarter campaign has been hit with a copyright violation claim, which is as close to a death blow as you can get before getting forcibly cancelled. The claim, as submitted by Epic Games, reads as follows."
Jazz was one of my favorite games growing up. hope it makes a comeback for sure.
So many memories of this game. I truly hope that they make a remake of it but I'd prefer it if it was done by the original developers. Let us hope!
Sounds legit...
shit game. Even Sonic these days is shit. These games don't sell. Look at rayman.
It is now under an intellectual property dispute on Kickstarter. This one is probably going down.
